Ok, so, i've started reading First Strike, and in the begining of the book i was reading about how 26 spartans had to make a near atmospheric landing onto reach without parachutes. So what they did was pump (cant remember the name of gel) the gel in there suits a certain amount of times, then before they landed, they had to override the suit and over pump the gel....

So.. Halo 3 here is my proposal. What if we moved grenade switching down to the D-pad and make it Left or Right on the D-pad. Then make the Left or Right Bumper on the 360 controller your gel pump?

The pump would only work while your falling making pre-pumping non existant. Here is how it would work.

High Platform Jumping - 4 Pumps or Full Shield Loss
Medium-High Platform Jumping - 3 Pumps or 1/2 shield loss
Medium-Low Platform Jumping - 1 Pump or 1/4 shield loss

So basically you pump or lose your shields.. I think this would add a hardcore element to the game, making it more hectic. But i dont think you should EVER die from a fall. Unless you fall off the map.

How about we leave it just as it is in Halo 2 with no falling damage period pumping is stupid that would get rid of being able to use a flash light.

I'm not talking about the bio-foam, i'm talking about the impact gel they have in there suits. Bio-Foam Heals the spartan, the impact gel takes the impact out of high falls. i have the book, i know how to read.

The suit also has a number of other features, including recoil-compensating actuators, hydrostatic gel (to regulate temperature and dampen impact force), and biofoam injectors. However, the biofoam injectors and medical care systems of the Mark IV must be provided with a direct supply of biofoam, medicines and stimulants from a standard marine first aid kit when the user is injured, as the suit will not hold or generate a supply of medicines and Biofoam, unlike the Mark VI.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MJOLNIR_battle_armor

This is a stupid idea just leave out falling damage and there you go problem solved and plus gel pumping would slow he game down so thats a definite no!!!!

So why don't we just put fall damage back in? or have it so it cant do any damage beyond your shields? or falling simply turns you motionless/slowmoving for a while...

Actually my idea is flawed, as it is MJOLNiR Mark V Armor's Shields are so strong that it eliminates falling damage all toghether. Making me believe that the upgrades the MC gets in Halo3 will make the suit just that much better.

Um, No. If you have read The Fall of Reach, you will remember that when MC got the Mk 5 armour, he had to adjust the sheild strength on his hands and underneath his feet so that he could make solid contact with the floor and things he picked up. So, these areas are not as well protected, and so the shielding would not automatically absorb the damage regardless of the height.

The lack of fall damage in Halo 2 is more of a gameplay adjustment rather than a reality one.

Plus, its Mk 6 (VI) in Halo 2. Not 5 (V).

Yeah, I would like to see some kind of fall damage included. I think one of the cheapest things in the world is a dude who's almost dead and then goes leaping from the highest place on the map to run away. That just seems a little off to me, and I hope it gets addressed.

I say we do include falling damage again, and take off "falling of map suicide death"...yeah, just the limited space you can survive on. If you fall a certain length anyway, you're gonna die, so why not. I don't like the pumping up idea at all, but the inclusion of falling damage again, and taking off "dieing if you jump into the abyss". Applying the falling damage would take care of it.

Haha, I didn't say not fair- not all battles happen at close range. I'm mainly thinking when you snipe somebody, or hit them with a battle rifle, and their shields are gone, and then they go jumping from the highest point of the map to a place where you can't see them. To me, that's just a little annoying, and there should be some kind of penalty from leaping from ridiculously high places. I'm not saying they die immediately- but if your shields are all the way gone, and you leap from the very top of Ascension, you should be dead.
