the sword is great in multiplayer but maybe a little too great .I mean in multiplayer it never runs out...... It should....I mean when it runs out in the solo player it makes great brass Knukles don't it. And do away with lunge attack.

I agree that the sword it really the most cheap weapon in Halo 2 next to the Nub Combo. They should make it have limited uses but not take away the lunge just shorten the range and make it so that you can't lunge in mid air - thats just stupid.

They aren't that cheap, but they should fix the lunge in the air thing. Swords are actually balanced well with shotguns. If your good you can kill lots of swordies with a shotgun (swords and shotguns rock) and my bro said that his friend knew how to dodge a sword lunge.

Halo 2 XBL, Midship and Lockout, it depends on if u are ubertastic or if u have the sword on who wins the game. Get rid of it, SP only. Or add a batery on the damm thing for MP.

The sword in MP was made unlimited because Bungie wanted to reinforce the fact that it was made strictly as a side-arm, only to be used like the shotgun in close quarters. The sword is designed to quickly be pulled out and slice someone up should they get too close to you.

IMO when halo 2 first came out I thought the sword was waaaaaay to powerfull.

After you start to learn the game the sword isn't that great, as a matter of fact if it didn't have the lunge it would be worthless.

You can dodge the darn thing and any weapon if used right at long to mid range beats it if your good.

Also if you have a problem with the sword on small maps like midship and keep getting killed over and over here is a tip, stop running in over and over again where the sword guy is camping. Just spam the guy with nads or stick him or pick him off with the BR.

It's not "cheap" at all, because guns are infintely superior to swords. That's why we don't use them anymore(the infinite charge for the sword was perhaps the only advantage sword users get) That's like a person with a samurai sword, in a head-on duel against someone with a gun. And sword users have a right to get some kills. Don't give me that BS about "skill". Games are supposed to be fun, not "skill". There will always be someone better than you. Just because it's a sword, doesn't mean you think you're supposed to be godly invincible to it. Not to mention there are plenty of ways to counter a sword.

And in Spartan/Elite perspective, they can do lunges pretty quick. The lunge is necessary. Otherwise, the sword would be as useless as a plasma pistol without its overcharge. The only thing that needs to be fixed is its physics-like how you can fly up to cut someone down from upper ground. At the most, a finite charge counter in multiplayer. If anything, the sword's power should be even more powerful i.e. the ones Elites use in Halo.

Yeah, but that sword also had infinite ammo and had a bulletproof shield.

Heres how I think it should be changed
-Make it have limited ammo like in SP
-No mid air lunges
-Keep the range it has now, but...
-If you lunge at someone, you lose energy (on yourself, not the sword) and as a result, you lunging range is reduced and needs to regenerate, which takes a couple of seconds, like when a Plasma weapon overheats, similar to the Oblivion fatigue system.

If by this point it is too weak (it is supposed to be a powerful weapon after all) then:
-Give the normal melee attack (without lunging) a quick second attack combo thing. So when you hit melee and swing the sword, if you hit melee again at the right time, you quickle swing the sword back for a second melee. This can be done from the air aswell, but will cost you energy. This move cannot be performed if you have lost half your energy.

What do you think?

I think they should either take the lunge off completely (which would make it an actual sword, not some gravity/physics defying weapon), or remove it from the game. With no lunge, it would be less useful, but they could make it so that ANY hit from the sword would be a one-hit kill. Like in Halo:CE, the golden Elites had the swords, but they couldn't lunge at you. Yet they still forced you to stay back because of how powerful it was.

If they don't want to do that, then I say take it out of the game.

Great point man, this is exactly what I have always said as well!
The sword is the King Camp weapon, and because everyone hates a camper, (most) everyone hates the sword. I think the sword should be included as-is, (without the mid air lunge, tho...) and people should countinue to work around the obstacle. I do think the shotgun should have more pellets and tighter grouping to balance out these close range weapons.

I'm with you, if the shotgun was tweeked to be as good as the sword people wouldn't cry about the sword so much and in a shotgun/sword stand off it would come down to who is better.

Well, they cannot get rid of it, because it is the Elite's weapon of choice and its like a holy weapon to them, so I think they should keep it the same, and leave it be, and people that don't like it is because they cannot kill people wielding it. Noobs...

the only thing they should change about the sword is the mid-air lunge it defys the laws of physics. Although you should be able to lunge while on the ground but you should be only like 5 to 10 feet away tho the solution to the sword is this find out who has it get a sniper/rocket then either head shot or blow the guy away.

IMO all they need to do is give it limmited ammo, the sword is ok on most maps but it's a bit annoying on midship. And maybe get rid of mid-air lock-on too but it depends on how the limmited ammo will change the sword.
