I hope you get hit by a large fast moving object. You're afraid of change. Bungie took a great game, and built upon it making it even better, and you can't accept that because you don't have your pistol. I play Halo 2 and Halo 1 almost equally, but the only arguments I get from people who don't like Halo 2 is "The pistol was taken out, now I have to hit someone 4-5 times instead of 3-4!", or "The hitboxes are too large, and the bullet magnetism is too much." I can agree with you about the aim-assist, but it NEEDED to be there in order to help with latency issues. It should be toned down a bit, but to remove it entirely would make the game just like Perfect Dark Zero, and we all know how hard it is to get a kill if you're not host in that game. Bungie made a slight mistake when making Halo 2, but that's no reason to hate the game. As for the other argument I constantly hear, you're NOT getting your Halo 1 pistol back. Bungie gave you the Halo 1 pistol in Halo 2, just in a different skin. It looked like this. Personally I hope bungie takes the best parts from Halo 1 and Halo 2 and make an absolutely amazing game.

Here are some things I would like to see in Halo 3.

1.KEEP the matchmaking system. It was an innovative system, and it worked. I always hear a lot of people complaining about it because all they ever want to play is Lockout and Midship. Sure i love those maps too, but if that's all you want to play, that's what customs are for. If Bungie put in dedicated servers for specific maps, all that would help accomplish is people being a much higher rank in one map and never playing any others. Another thing is I like the random chance that it will be my least favourite map (Warlock IMO because i always lose there). Means I will get used to it, and play better on it.

2.Better default starting weapon. One of the good things i liked from Halo 1. please note I do NOT mean either the BR or Halo 1 pistol. I mean I want something new Perhaps a new single shot rifle, perhaps a more effective version of the SMG, but I do agree that Halo 1 default weapons were better.

3.Maps. I would want more balanced maps for team slayer based matches. Note that I didn't say symmetrical (I hate symmetry it's too boring) I said BALANCED. We all know how annoying it is to have the other team spawn near the sniper rifle and rocket launcher in Ivory Tower, it's quite hard to get the lead again. If this idea and/or my previous idea were addressed, i think it would solve the problem of if you get the lead you keep the lead. I do believe however, that in skirmish matches the maps should be unbalanced, but not to a large degree. 1 flag CTF on Zanzibar is one of my favourite gametypes :-D

4.Matchmaking tweaks. The ONLY change i would make to the current matchmaking system would be able to search for games by region. A lot of Amreicans wouldn't understand how rediculous the amount of lag we get on the other side of the world, even with a full green latency bar, A grenade thrown takes an extra .5 seconds to be thrown. If I would be able to play with fellow Aussie's or Kiwi's, or anyone else who lived closer than the other side of the world. Another way to fix this would be...

5.Dedicated servers. Enough said.

6.Campaign. The Halo 1 campaign was awesome, but i think I'm the only person in the worl who thinks the Halo 2 campaign was BETTER. It added a great twist to the plot, having to play as the Arbitar was not something I liked at first, but we would've missed out on so much if we didn't experience it. The ending of Halo 2 was 40 pounds of awesome in a 20 pound bag. The end made me that much more excited for Halo 3, even though it wasn't even official. If we had gotten to "Finish the fight" in Halo 2, I doubt I'd be typing this.

These are all my personal opinions, I expect to be flamed by the unintelligent population of this community, but If you are intelligent to read through 4196 characters you'll find I brought up some very valid points.

Thanks to Blasphemy for helping me with these ideas.

The reason why I would want H3 to take more after H1 is because I found H1's campaign a lot more fun than H2's.

Multiplayer was nothing I really cared for in either game. It's only the campaign I'd like to see more close to H1.

That's my personal opinion.

If you wanna see an airplane cemetery, why don't you just find an old airplane and look at where it goes?

"The hitboxes are too large, and the bullet magnetism is too much." I can agree with you about the aim-assist, but it NEEDED to be there in order to help with latency issues.

I think that aim assistance would actually make the game more difficult for people who are lagging because it would make your aiming reticule look like it's over your enemy on your connection, but I think that it actually wouldn't be over your enemy on the host's connection. I think that if you're lagging, then you'd have to lead your shots, and aim assistance makes it difficult to lead your shots because it drags your reticule to you enemy as opposed to in front of your enemy. In fact, Bungie actually announced that the massive aim assistance was put into Halo 2 mostly to help inexperienced players to get good at the game quickly, and you can read that here.

a few of my m8s and myself have been arguing about the autoaim in Halo2, we do know that the autoaim in Halo:CE was minimal and for Halo2 the autoaim was strengthened, but why?

the main arguments seem to be that it was to make the game easier but I think it is also to do with latency issues over xbox Live. stronger autoaim needed to be included to make sure with people with varying latency were on a level playing field. Am I right? ?

Autoaim actually varies between weapons, and even weapon combos and while lag and connectivity were all taken into account, the main concern was enjoyable control and balance between each weapon.

I don't think that most people who want Halo 3 to require more skill than Halo 2 want the aim assistance to be removed completely because most shooter games for consoles have some aim assistance since most console controllers are quite inaccurate (even Halo 1 had aim assistance).

I actually think that the Battle Rifle would be a good replacement for the Pistol if it didn't have so much aim assistance and bullet magnetism. I'd actually be fine with Halo 3 if players would spawn with any type of effective weapon, and it would be great if it required quite a bit of skill to use it effectively.

OK a few things I’d like to say in replay to your post eddie.

-Aim-assist does NOTHING to help with latency/online play. It's a fallacy. Hitboxes do help. Sticky reticule/bullet magnetism does not.
-Bungie took a great game, and discarded many of the unique things that helped made it good. They did not build on it - in many areas it's like they started from scratch. I am not saying Halo 2 is a bad game, I like it and play it a lot. But, most of what I don't like stems from where they could have built on something, but instead completely changed it for no good reason. So I believe you are wrong when you say that they just took a good game and made it better.
-I like all your points of things you would like to see in Halo 3. It's safe to assume we will again have a totally revamped feel, but those specific points are something I can really agree with you on.....
-except the campaign! I won’t harp on about it because it’s all been said before. But there is SO much more to a campaign than the plot. I am almost of the opinion that plot should be completely separated from the campaign when appraising the single-player element of any game. But this “twist” if you can call it that, had nothing to do with the quality of the campaign in my eyes (although it did jarringly interrupt the flow of the gameplay, jumping perspectives). So, putting aside any plot concerns for now, I felt the campaign game was a big let-down. And, personally, I felt that I was halfway through my 40 lb bag only to discover there was 20 lb in it.

But anyway, good post, I just violently disagree with some of what you say.
