Hey, i was just thinking earlier, wouldnt it be cool to have another rank other than just the bland Member rank? What if our rank changed to Staff or something else if we had a certain number of posts or something like that. I have websites with forums that when certain people reach a certain number of post, they get promoted automatically. I was just thinking it would be a cool idea...NEone else?

Bad idea. This was brought up before in this thread. It would be a bad idea. If you read the comments within this thread that I have posted. You will realize, it will not be good. To many people would spam to become a higher rank.

Staff? No. You're not staff if you have 1,000 posts.

The thing with a number based ranking system is that spammers are all of a sudden better than everyone else, because they can make posts quicker. All their posts might be complete bollocks, but they still get the rank.

Which is why the opinion based promotion thing works best. Human decision is much better than a computer deciding instead. Humans can tell, the computer cannot.

So the spammer could become respected? This, while has good intentions, would be bad overall for B.net.

The member roles are part safety (sercurity) precaution and part logic, if people could reach a rank other than member, they would attatin it by any means possible.

I get standbyed on Halo, I don't want cheaters here too.

Also if a spammer became a staff it would be a horrible downturn for bungie.net. Nobody would like to come. Not to mention what about the, excuse my language, dick heads that flame everyone that they see? What if they became a staff? They would become power hungery. Once again, bad idea.

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

I suggest you just sit and hope some sort of Karma system is implemented. I doubt even then there will be ranks available, but some other nice things are bound to be available.

If only the real world were that simple, clean and manageable.

That being said, the real world doesn't have a team of people who can simply make people banish from society with a button... yet.

EDIT: Ow, okay, nevermind. I was going to make that all bold, but have you ever tried reading pure white BOLD writing?! OUCH.

Is it just me, or why would anyone care? I like to come to B.net to dicuss video games and other random things with like minded people. I don't come here to compete, or be cool. Some people on B.net are interesting, some are funny and some are complete idiots. Read other people's post and make up your own mind.

The problem is that it also promtes the wrong kind of posts. Seriously all we have to do is make one thread and just continously bump it until i have 1234384729093758902 posts. The one of the reasons why i like the bungie.net forums is because some of the forums have some thought behind them, they arnt just a bunch of kids asking the same questions all the time (even though that does exist on the halo 3 forum)

*Rank related to amount of posts is pretty stupid like everybody already said
*Rank related to time as a member (idea probably old as stone), unecessary since there a "Member since" tag already. That would be like putting a name on time and you can do that in ur own heads " my rank is 14 months" etc. Sure it might keep some users from writing stupid nonsense and gettting blacklisted for good, we all know, from MM, what a little number or symbol next to the name can do to ppl.
