I think the Flood should be dead scary in Halo 3. I liked their creepy gurgles and growls in Halo 2, and I like the atmosphere of Halo 1 Flood areas. What would be creepy is the host actually tries to resist, it tries to let out a "no don't"! or "End me now" Like Pvt. Jeinkins in the book The Flood. I'd also like to see them a bit more bloody. And as for the Juggernaut, make it so you hear quakes when it moves, makes very loud growls, etc. To tell you the truth, I got scared of the Flood in High Charity level, hearing them go "yearaaahhhh" behind, as if they are howling for your blood. And the voice og Gravemind made it seem more demonic, but I want more.

What is everyone else's thoughts?

*sighs*

Or, maybe I want an adrenaline rush, I want to feel afraid, because that creates atmosphere, as if your really there going like "oh Hell". That is what made the scary games great. Doom 3, FEAR, etc. Not saying that they are perfect, many of those games were flawed, but made up in atmosphere and scaryness.

I liked fighting The Flood. I must admit they were annoying though at times. That's why they need to be scary.

I wish the Flood were stronger, and scarier up close (like in Halo)..in Halo 2, they're a joke..seriously, they run like 2mph, and take forever to turn around..I like the way you can blow them apart, and some still have shields though..

The Flood were much more powerful in Halo 2. Halo 1 they just made up in numbers. I never noticed a speed diffrence.

They weren't stronger in Halo 2. Even if they were, they never got close enough, cause they can't lunge like we can, and melee ranges were seriously reduced to accomodate lunging..

Really? How come they can kill in a single whip or resist Carbine/Battle Rifle shots(unless you shoot the infection form on the chest which was nearly impossible against Human Flood)? Also you had to decapitate them to secure the area, or the Infection forms would revive them. I found that more strategical.

i agree, mostly
i like the atmosphere of Halo CE
all misty, dark and a great setting for the Flood
and with all the sounds and graphics from Halo 2

that is why i just run through High Charity
it is the level in Halo 2 that has the Halo CE type atmosphere for the Flood
and with High Charity, it was impossible to kill all the Flood
which is what it should be like

I don't think that the flood should be in halo 3 at all.

I think that the Flood would be completed if they were put together from both games.

But MLG, in Legendary those things scare me, they're actually really powerful. HaloFighter, you're definetly right, I want to feel afraid, I want to get that adrenaline rush and actually not want to be in the room while fighting it.

But I think that it would be cool to have the Flood lose their body parts without being Sworded, is that a word?

But that would be cool, you shoot its arm with a battle rifle at the joint or whatever, and the arm falls off, that will probably actually happen. The 360 has the capacity, and I think Bungie will think of that.

Thank you. And actually I think you can alread ydecapitate them with a gun. Shoot off their arms and tehir harmless. In Halo 1 you could do this, but instead of exploding, they'll just follow you around the entire rest of the level. Which was fun, but dumb.

Yeah, they were tough in Legendary, but they just seemed les intimidating...till they hit you. In Halo, they seemed intimidating at all times, on all difficulty levels IMO.

Yea, I love the ambience of Halo in general. It's like the music, I get scared when I play 343 Guilty Spark, the creepy noises, and Marty's music is unbeatable. Ancient Machine, woo. *shudders*

Yes, I think that Halo 2 was a great sequel, the ambience was actually found more, but not the same as Halo. the Flood are probably the scariest creatures in a game, well, maybe not. But still.

Are you sure? I think that it would be sweet as in scary if a Flood is running at you, you shoot at it, miss it, and hit it's arm, it falls off, the Flood form kind of twists while still running, you keep shooting, the same thing happens. You finally shoot it's head, and it does this kind of backflip, but only twisting, and it drops dead backwards, but It's feet kind of keep sliding.

You know what I mean, I hope.

Yea, I know what you mean, I think in Halo 1/CE, they kind of waved their arms when they ran at you. That might be Halo 2, but I kind of want that creepy stuff besides the scary growls.

You know.

Hopefully we'll be introduced to a new type of flood called the 'Malocanth Prefect'. It's a giant, vicious biped that has infected another, unrevealed Covenant race.

OMG!!!! I would love that. With the new graphics it would be so freaky. My little brother would stop playing my Halo 3 (I don't like him playing my games) and I could beat it before him.

I have a hunch Bungie are already gonna do this for Halo 3.

I really think they'll bring The Flood to life for this installment; better graphics, animation, lighting and AI will all make for a much more advanced and unsettling foe in Halo 3.

Some of the dudes at Bungie have made comments about Halo 3 being 'darker' than the previous Halo games. I guess that's kind of self-explanatory when you consider where we're at in the story-arc. Like I say, I really think that they WILL ALREADY have been hard at work making some really nasty Flood-based moments for this next one.

I agree with you that it'll be cool to be nervously inching your way through Flood encounters in Halo 3... I think the people Bungie are, they'll feel the same way too :-)

P.S Wouldn't it be cool to have a glimpse of The Flood in some NEW HALO 3 FOOTAGE *cough*
