Subject: The biggest ally to Halo 3!

Each time someone stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope. That hope is three little numbers: 1 - 1 - 7.

There is hope in us all. We gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face. We must do the thing which we think we cannot do; stand with the Master Chief and Finish this Fight!

Seen as how I have not seen this topic being discussed in this forum yet, I have taken it upon myself to educate the minds of those who actually believe that the PS3 is somewhat better than the 360 or the Wii.

Comparing games is one thing, how can you start to compare the GTA series to the Halo Series, it’s just no possible, but Halo 3’s big weapon is ultimately the Xbox 360!

Now I know some of you may have already posses the knowledge so please do not flame or criticize on what I am about to say, not only will I high light the main differences between these next-gen consoles but I will also try and foresee the future of these new hardware’s. Don’t worry, I am not going to say allot about the hardware department to confuse you with its big words like "teraflop" but I will try and pin point the reasons behind the development of these consoles starting with of course the:

--------Playstation 3 (Sony)---------

Based on Sony past experiences and experimentation of its previous consoles (PS1, PS2), one might say that the PS3 is the favourite front runner in the big 3 league between themselves, Microsoft and Nintendo. Which is understandable really given the current most sold out console in the world is the PS2 selling over 80 million units’ world wide. No doubt Sony is wishing to continue this "tradition" by developing the PS3. With a broad age group in mind, Sony are looking to capitalize their only advantage they have over Microsoft (in the Japanese market) to build the strong foundations for the PS3 as they did previously with the PS2. This tactic is not flawed but looking closely at Sony's past, it’s anything but honest.

Using this tactic is one thing but lying to keep your fan base by means of this tactic is another thing entirely, not to mention immoral. Sony has been using the "wait" line on its fans since the PS1. Back then when the PS1 was under development, Sony pushed the limit of its lines by issuing "it will take another year of development" come closer to launch date. Similarly the same thing happens to the PS2, only twice, the first for six months and then 3. This unstable use of lies has cost the Sony cooperation dearly and I think that come the PS3 it WILL be pushed back to late March 2007.

But what about the PS3 itself? Will it rise to the challenge and defeat the 360?

Well by means of hardware architecture, the Xbox 360 and the PS3 are similar in many ways, as far as performance concerns they are equal, so squelch the rumours about the PS3 being "superior". Even as we speak the Sony development group are finding it hard to use an OS (operating system) as the time the console starts up, it uses 80% of its power to do that, which leaves only 20% to play games.

Which brings us to "Blue-Ray". Now I am a fan of tech but bringing something out so early, so expensive, that’s not even needed right now is bad development tactics. The people will stick with DVDs with the next being HD DVDs which Microsoft foresaw already, plus the Sony company has already tried s similar trend with the PSP using the Universal Media Disk or UMD, which was a total flop given the retail price of 20 pounds a pop, the same for a conventional DVD.

Which beings us to this security rumour that I read about, the PS3 will have updated security measures which involve burning a PS3 game disk, thus not being able to use on any other console except the one you have inserted it, in the first place. That means no renting, no borrowing and no selling games for which you have provided about 70 - 80 sterling’s.

Did I also mention that the PS3 will be on the wrong side of the 500 pound mark? With all this in question and not an online server worth mention to go online with, the PS3 is going to be bought by the die hard fan boys of the Sony past PS1 and PS2 generations whilst the analysts out there will be questioning the mentally of those poor gamers wallet and with GTA coming to 360 why on earth by a PS3 anyways?

Whilst the games for the 360 get better and better, the PS3 will have slow start to its campaign and will lose ground rapidly as the 360 will eventually overtake its fan base by a mile by as early as Christmas!

-------Wii (Nintendo)--------

Ahh, the shimmering light of Wii, a yellowy transparent colour like your erm well wee. Ahem, looking past the awful excuse of a name, the Wii has taken a totally different path to other big guns, which is not surprising since the same could have been said of the Game Cube.
The question mark here is the lack of HD output. Whilst the others have taken this route, Nintendo felt that given the current gaming market, a difference in playing would make an impact in today’s electronic society.

Out are the conventional controller and the rumble, the thumbstics, the whole thing replaced by a conventional remote and a thumb mouse if you will both independent of each other. Now this has opened allot of debate regarding the impact of the Wii, because to be honest, no one knows what the people reaction is going to be.

True, Nintendo has a solid past, with solid developers behind them, but that is not enough to ensure survival in today’s gruelling and unforgiving market. Has Nintendo shot itself in the foot by doing such a grand risk?

There however advantages in taking this kind of risk, for starters the console itself will be dirt cheap and the games also will require less programming giving the elopers more time to tweak, on launch day the Wii will have 23 confirmed titles much unlike the PS3 which will have 2 and the 360 which had 10. Plus the new method of game play means you can new original games on it. Playing with your remote as a ligthsaber, what’s not cool about that?

In the end, Nintendo’s fan base will either love it or hate depending on the reaction times of the remote and how much easy it is to make the transition between the pad and the remote. An uncertain future but one that holds many riches if it’s pulled off right.

-------------Xbox 360 (Microsoft)-------------------

And thus we come to our last console. In this we have so far our champions of champions. The ruler thus far of the kingdom of the gaming universe.............bit far-fetched huh, but let me explain why. When the Xbox 1 came out, MS were not looking to win the console war, how could it the PS2 winning in every arena. MS knew so they thought, "hey lets make something that least works and then improve on it in the future!"

Whilst Sony is a good solid electronics company, MS is a computer development company extended in all areas of the computer industry (programming, networking, PCs, software, etc). This gives them a great advantage over Sony and we have seen that talent and experience first hand in Xbox Live, it’s not a random coincidence that Sony is finding hard to develop their own online network.

Past that fact, the Xbox 360 is somewhat of a blurred line between a gaming console and a laptop or a desktop. Not only could you connect anything electronic to it (i-pod, digital cameras, and computers) but you could also download to it via Xbox Live. Plus the HD output of it means that it uses the state of the tech to provide the ultimate gaming experience to you at an affordable price.

But that’s not where the 360 wins the battle oh no. Besides the fact that the 360 has a time advantage on its rivals thus by the time the PS3 and Wii come out the games will improve dramatically in quality and performance, the ultimate power of the 360 comes from its updates via Xbox Live.

As time progresses the updates will become better, thus making your 360 updatable just like your PC when it updates you virus database. The updates will make the 360 faster, more user friendly (if that’s possible) whilst still ensuring the quality of your games remains intact.

The Xbox 360 is a versatile tool that can be use as a home entwinement system, whilst the PS3 and the Wii are also similar to that, the fact of the updatability of the unit can always progress (MS is a software company) whilst using the same hardware is big plus indeed.

And so we come to Halo 3m beyond the fact that Halo 1 and 2 sold out faster than the day that sliced bread took it place in the common market, the Halo 3 game has also another big plus to its PS3 software counterparts. By the time the PS3 is released, the Xbox 360 developers will have a year of experimenting and examining the Xbox 360 development kits giving us the best possible gaming experience.

So our beloved Bungie will have a better heads up this time playing the advantage all the way. With that in mind, all that Bungie needs to do is to crack the box offices one more time to secure Microsoft’s pole position in the console wars.

So in conclusion to his long ride of consoles, The 360 is currently in the lead with their next gen games and ideas whilst the rest with their lies, random risks, and lack of computer experience....are looking at a distant second and third.

Which place goes to whom, that still remains to be seen.

I am Nick aka Diablo 177

Thank you for reading and good night!

Wii>360>PS3

The Wii has a major kickass new controller and is able to download all old school games making it my first choice followed up by the 360 (which I have) due to the fact that 360 + windows makes everything 10x . Followed up by the ps3 who did nothing on their own and simply copied the other two systems.

PS3 makes me sick.

Well no, since the console being used for Halo 3 is the Xbox 360. I was just highlithing the difference between the three consoles and why Halo 3 will have an edge over the other games, be that of Xbox 360 or their counterparts!

By the way I was replying to Bass13!

I love you. I totally agree with everything, I mean personaly I think that companies are just getting to greedy for there own good, with the exception of Nintendo, because so far its the only one that is both Fun, and Cheap. I mean the Wii is something that almost anyone, even those in money-tight family could get, and have lots of fun with super smash brawl, and Mario.

When I bought my xbox 360, me with my 2 paper routes took me about...6 months to save for, and I bought it in the very end of June. I was very impressed by its easy and user friendly format, and the ability to play music while killing Covies...
I also have XBL which adds another totally invigerating gaming experience, because unlike most PC games, you can talk usign your voice and actually make friends on XBL,
now I do no that there are games on the PC where you can do this...Im just putting that out there.

I also think that Microsoft will try and set themselfves up with nintendo, and blow sony out of the water. there are many reasons for this, most already said by the post starter, diablo 117,

I say "well said".

a little adition here, I do not blame bungie for being greedy, because I know that they dont have much say in how much they sell halo 3 or any games for that mater because they are owned by microsoft,
I just hope, that with Bill gates retiring the next "big man" will try and make the dvd games cheaper, and sell MORE, than those 80$ blue wray disks,

I spit on the Ps3, for copying the big xbox 360 button in the middle and its triggers...

Wii>360? Blasphemy! God should -blam!--smite you in the face for typing those keys down and submitting it. The 360 is the best, and I haven't played a console game by Nintendo since Donkey Kong on my old N64 (I'm starting to think I should sell that damn thing. Who in their right mind would buy a videogame console named after a bodily secretion. I don't care if they're spelled different, it sounds the same. Now it may have a high-tech tricky controller, but that only means you're going to have to relearn how to cotrol everything. The 360 wisely went with the idea of "If it ain't broken, don't fix it." And it's also not named after a bodily secretion.

  • 07.23.2006 6:17 PM PDT

that which is not dead can eternal lie, but with strange aeons even death may die.

I think that microsoft will buy nintendo, reasons...

nintendo had the best system until xbox, I still believe that the N64 was more fun than the ps2,

I mean so what the graphics werent as good, who cares if the player was a polygon, the games were FUN, and very entertaining, ps2, was just some cheap copys and inprovements of ps1.

And now ps3, has taken up the sony torch, and is copying and sequeling there way into
"we screwed you over, now we screw ourselfs" land, I say, if they shoot them selves in the foot, then why dont we shoot them in the head, with halo 3...

a little adition to diablo 177s thing about the rumor of the "ps3 no buring", well I have many azn friends ,(im not azn), and I know that most people in hong kong, Taiwan, and most of japan all BURN THE GAMES, maybe one person out of 500 will actually buy it in the store, I mean hell, my friend who lives 5 houses down has like 200 games for his ps2 and none of them are "bought", I mean he has FF12, and its not even out yet. I dont see nothing wrong with burning, because if sony dosent let them burn the games, they are shooting down themselves, because even though you have a burned game, you would still need a ps3 to PLAY IT.

thats my two-cents today,

ive seen a side by side comparison of the 360 and ps3 in 4 categories the 360 won in 3 of them. 2 it won barely. one it killed the ps3. and the other barely lost to the ps3. sony has a track record of overpromising and under delivering software.over 55% of the game developers in japan say the ps3 is too expensive and it will not sell.
