I am aware that Bungie has set the official release date for Halo 2 on the 9th of November, but what I want to know is whether this is a worldwide release date, or are the PAL regions getting it later? I'm in Australia, and we usually get New releases a month or 2 after the USA (we haven't gotten Ninja Gaiden yet!).

A bloke from Electronics Boutique has told me that (and I quote him) "The Australian Release date is the 9th of December, and the ONLY place to get the Limited edition collectors tin is to Pre-Order with EB's, as they will be the only place in Australia selling them".

Now, Electronics Boutique staff are not known for their reliable info or their honesty, so can anyone here tell me anything? I seriously hope the guy from EB's is lying... I don't want to have to wait until December, nor do I want to buy from EB's if I can avoid it! PLEASE HELP!!!

Can't you just order it online from a store in America? Wouldn't that work? It'd only take a day or two to ship it internationally, methinks. I don't have any references on that, I'm going by opinion. Hope it helped. ;D

MSXL: The Last Honest Chapter

I was just about to say that. I mean, would you be able to go to like a gamestop.com and pre-order on there? Them just have them mail it to your address in Australia.

since you don't want to wait a month for it there the best thing would be to order it online.I know if i was living in Australia i fly all the way to america to get it,but that just me.

I have thought about pre-ordering an Import copy, but NTSC games don't like playing on PAL televisions...

I know if i was living in Australia i fly all the way to america to get it,but that just me.

Lol, I actually thought of that too... set up camp on the Bungie Lawns until they give me a copy!

So back to the topic, IS November 9th a worldwide release, or just the US release date?

Yes, it is worldwide.

Just a reminder to everyone... The Collector's Edition that was featured in this week's article will cost slightly more ($5 bucks...whoop-de-doo) to purchase and MUST be pre-ordered or bought online. I already pre-purchased mine from EB and they said that there will possibly be more stuff that will be exclusive. Besides the Behind-the-Scenes DVD and metal case, there is talk of a special manual or book (hopefully, it isn't just a re-telling of Halo 2 like 'The Flood' was). I'm not saying that EB is always right - because I know they aren't - however, they said they won't be selling the Collector Edition off the shelves. Which means it must be ordered. Period.

...and as for Aussie's dilema, is it not possible to just buy a U.S. version of the Xbox? I recommend the Halo model. Then you can just order the U.S. version of Halo2 on Nov. 9. Just a suggestion...

I live in england and we usually get games a few months after the ntsc version (I think its called ntsc). Ive got used to this now, and sometimes i quite enjoy as it allows me to read weapon faqs and look at the new maps before playing them, this was the case with the first halo. I knew how to kill elites, hunters and jackals as soon as i got the game, and i completed it on legendary the day after i got it, all because england had later release date and i had time to read up on the game. But i really would like halo 2 to come out here on the 9th of november i have promised myself, if halo 2 does come out late im not going to read a single detail about it untill i get the box open it up and read the book myself!
So in short, yeah, i hope its a worldwide release.

I also live in Australia and to even think that I would have to wait an extra month is total -Blam- as we are just as much devoted Bungie/Halo fans as anyone else. Please, please release the Aussie PAL version on the 9th of Nov so we can share in the excitment with our overseas buddies.

Ed Fries the ex microsoft games studio chairman once quoted "because halo2 is going to be such a special event (for xbox) we are going to release it worldwide"

I hope so. Cause on live it would give the damn americans an advantage if they got it first and everyone a few weeks later. That happened with Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow which came out in the UK about a month afterwards, but cause halo was such a world wide success i think that it will be international.

And going back to the special edition, i asked the staff at Game about it and they said "We haven't recieved any information about it" (direct quote from Ian in Game lincoln highstreet) the didn't hav a clue yet it says on this damn website whats supposed to happen. They just don't seem to care the "-blam!-bing -blam!-s!" (Cabooses mental images of Church Rvb epidsode 33)

But yet again, if it was released on Nov 9th in Australia, then, technically, we would get it 1st. Cause of them being sumfin like 12 hours behind us.

Most likely it will be indeed a worldwide release. More and more developers are seeing now the great benefits of a worldwide release. (it's all about stats today). And yup, Australia would be the foirst to get, after that, Asia, then Europe and then america.

No, definitely.

Well, we do deserve it at the same time. I believe it was msoell himself who noted that Australia "has long been a stronghold of rabid Bungie fans". :)

Im still waiting for my ehanced halo soundtrack to arive in Sri Lanka and I ordered it back in late march. So no international shipments don't take a day or two to fly over. They take more like a month or two and it is not getting here that the problems. It customs, security, embargos, and other political blamsit that takes time crossing international borders. We both know that a game cd is not a bomb or drugs but they need to be sure that it isn't.
