Ok, I am sure all of you know about the connection between T.S. Eliot's Poem "Hollow Men" and the trailer. Well read this from section III:

This is the dead land
This is cactus land
Here the stone images
Are raised, here they receive
The supplication of a dead man's hand
Under the twinkle of a fading star.

The connections are "Here is the dead land Here is the cactus land" Earth is barren and Masterchief is in a desert of dead land.

Now this part, "Here the stone images Are raised..." The Foreruner strucure is moving, large slabs of stone are being raised.

"Under the twinkle of a fading star" This is referring to either the bright blue light that eminates from the structure, or the clouds swirling above the structure.

"...here they receive The supplication of a dead man's hand..." This is the part I can't relate to if anyone has an idea of what it means post it. I believe that if we find out what this line means we find out what the structure is and what the Covenant are doing there.

**I am going to look for more connections in the poem and I will put them up later.

This is the otherr half of section III:

Is it like this
In death's other kingdom
Waking alone
At the hour when we are
Trembling with tenderness
Lips that would kiss
Form prayers to broken stone.

"Walking alone" Masterchief is alone by himself.

"Form Prayers to broken stone" This can mean that after the "ritual" the Covenant are preforming, something essential to their religion is taking place. This action would be coming from the large slabs of stone.

"...here they receive The supplication of a dead man's hand..."
could refer to the activation of the Ark itself.
Since the Forerunners died out the supplication of a dead man's hand could be the activation of the Ark, and artifact of the dead race.

Maybe something similar to the Index that activated Halo,

No that doesn't entirely seem right. The unification of the Index would not spread to the Ark itself. The Ark it seems would require a dfferent mode of operation. Since the Indexes are only found on the Halo installations they would not influence the activation of the Ark, which is said to activate all seven of the Halos. Now six Halos.

the other half, i think, might apply to the Aribiter and the Covenants belief in the Great Journey.

I am thinking that the structure is either
A) The Ark
B) Something that leads to living Forerunners
C) A massive weapon that kills everything in the universe
D)As you said something religous

But the Arbiter no longer believes in the Great Journey as he found out the truth via his experiences after the Gravemind.

Well the Ark itself is only said to activate the Halos, not act as a Halo itself.
I don't think that there are any living Forerunners. The Gravemind mentioned to the Arbiter,
"Those who built this palce knew what they wrought,
Do not mistake their intent, or all will persih, like they did before."
This line indicates that the Forerunners died.
Also the 343 Guilty Spark said that his creators died after exhausting all strategic options and activated the Halos.

if you actually watch the Halo 2 DVD, you'll see a storyboard thing that looks EXACTLY like the thing in the Trailer and it was title "Ark". so im pretty sure that its the ark now.

you have any proof that the Arbiter doesn't believe in the Great Journey anymore?

Well in the Halo 2 cutscene, when the Arbiter, Gravemind, Masterchief, a Monitor and one of the 3 PProphets are together, Gravemind explains what the Halo's do and Arbiter believes him.

The fact that he is now a guiding force in the civil war and challenged Tarturus to the death to stop the activation of halo.

What if it's..not?

If the Great Journey was real(I think it is), then for the Arbiter-seeing is believing. As of now, all the things the Prophets have spoon-fed them over centuries about salvation is gone now that they found out they're being left behind to die with the former galaxy. Not to mention that there's no salvation for them if Halo and the Great Journey were to be activated, as Gravemind and MC informed him so.

its so obvious the ark isnt a safe house at all but a a gaint space hole (vortex to another dimension or space) its a bloody teleporter apoun its activation the only safe place is to go threw it to which in end takes you to a place far far away possible forrunners are here!!!

Somehow, I doubt it.
If this is so why did the Forerunners not return? Surely if the threat of the flood was gone they could return without fear. Also, the Forerunners are dead. Sources are in one of my above posts.

When I opened this thread, I figured it would be random spam. I figured wrong. You have something there I never noticed. ghost91 also has a good idea. Flood are basicaly dead men. If you disagree for some unknown reason here is why I would think that. Halo + Sentient Life = Death. Flood are not considered sentient life, therefore they are dead.

My thoughts about the "dead man's hand" part are these. From tons of speculation, Humans carry Forerunner DNA in their bloodstream. "Supplication from a dead man's hand". It takes Forerunner DNA to activate Forerunner technology. The Forerunner are dead. Humans carry DNA of a dead race. Tell me what you think of my idea.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME GROUP INVITATIONS

The Halo REACH Script (post thoughts in thread)

Writing Lead of Whisper Studios. Check out Heron!

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

The dead man's hand could be referring to Chief...possibly being a Clone? I know, we'd all hate that..but if it was true, That would be a huge twist, haha.

Or it coule be one of the MIA Spartans (Kelly, or James) who are actually activating the thing..think back to Hang 'Em High.."Tombstones for Everyone.

68 Tombstones, 68 MIA/KIA Spartan-IIs.

The lips thing could be referring to other Spartans? He seems rather close to Linda..
