Subject: How Halo 3's campaign can be improved from Halo 2's

I think something that didn't make Halo 2's campaign as interesting was just that MC wasn't as involved in the whole story as much as he was in Halo 1. It kind of seemed like this: shoot aliens, Cortana tells you whats going on, shoot more aliens, Cortana tells you some more stuff, shoot more aliens, Cortana fills you in, etc. I mean I just got tired of shooting things. (this may just be my problem) And then the fact that the maps were very narrow and guided, it just gave me the feeling of being on a guided tour of the Halo 2 story, and just getting to shoot things to make it entertaining. Whereas in Halo 1 I felt like I was a part of the story, that I was in it, doing it, that I (the player) was the focus of attention. And that ends up being a lot more entertaining then having it told to you while you shoot aliens.

I think Halo 3 also needs more big battles, instead of just little ones like in Halo 1 & 2. There needs to be just one level that is totally awesome, as far as graphics, sound, music, storyline, gameplay, and just downright exitement; a level that is just one big battle between you and the enemy that can turn out differently everytime you play it. A level that everyone would want to play over and over again because it doesn't get boring. Now think if all the levels were like that...

You're right.
Halo 2 was a much more guided campaign.
I think that Halo 3 will be more open, and that the MC will be the Epicenter of the story and events. He's the only one left, Besides the Arbitor.

I trust Bungie with Halo 3.

I trust them to make it epic, either way. I'm not worried about how they'll do Campaign.. (Or multiplayer, for that matter.)

That would be fun to play, well said.

Heh, I wouldn't doubt the Campaign will be epic.

If I put it there, no one would read it. But just to make you happy, I'll post in there too.

They should do away with the bosses and have those massive battles again. Who didn't have fun blasting away at everything that moved at the end of Two Betrayals? Tartarus just wasn't as fun.

Yeah, I think the whole "bosses" idea just makes it more of a normal video game. Halo is supposed to be different. Even Marty O'Donnell said this in the soapbox - video games are supposed to be "experienced", not "beaten".

Putting bosses in Halo 2 kind of lowered it to the typical video game layout: fight your way through the level, beat a boss (super strong guy) at the end of the level, clear the level and move to the next one.

I hope Halo 3 is motivated by the experience, not just so that the player can "beat the game."

Every level of Halo 3 will be like that!

Best. Game. Ever.
