" Could i have been anyone other than me?" -Dave Matthews

ive heard many people talk about the pros and cons of being able to pilot a pelican in halo 3's multiplayer mode. all these posts were in random weapons forums though so i decided to make one for all things pelican. once and for-all: what is your opinion of being able to pilot a pelican in halo 3's multiplayer modes (without a mod or save)?

i think it would be the coolest thing ever to be able to fly a pelican with a full load of marines in the bay, over a designated point on the map, a somewhat safe distance from the enemies base but close enough that your still taking heavy enemy fire, and dropping elevation to a couple feet above ground to let your cargo of marines jump out and begin their assault on the enemies base. with rockets flying by a bullets bouncing off your pelicans armor, you gain elevation and head back in the direction you came to pick up any newly spawned soldiers your team has recently lost. just one of millions of sweet senarios for the pelican...

Having played with mods myself, I can tell you that flying a Pelican is so much fun. It also gives you that strategical feeling of deploying your team (and yourself of course.....not gonna miss the action), then airlifting to safety when the job is done.

I have piloted every flying vehicle in the Halo series and I must say, the Pelican is by far my favorite (next comes the Phantom).

It would be a lot better than the mods... Bungie would make it easier to fly. Flying pelicans in halo ce is a hard thing to do, even when you have a game controller.

Well with AR I have piloted the pelican before. I don't think its that great. But, I did use something not ment for the real game.... If they don't make the controls so hard and make it stop faster then I would love to fly the pelican again.

I could see that happening. That is already a problem with tanks, sniper/beam and br's.

The pelican in my opinion would only be good for Campaign. Ive used the pelican hundreds of times on Halo CE and its fun wan what not. There are huge maps that are designed specifically for the pelicans and long swords, (ex: Hugeass), problem is, if you fall out its about a 7 minute walk back to the base starting from the middle. The smaller maps with pelicans make it feel like you hvae no where to go. So I say that the Pelican would only fit with Campaign.
