Halo:
I think Damnation, Chyron and Hang Em High would be the best by far. Damnation is my favourite level ever, and Chyron is really fun for rockets, shotguns or any variation of oddball...although if you don't know which portals go where I could see it not being all that fun.
Hang em High is simply the best pistol whoring map. If they can manage to give the battle rifle the same feel as the original pistol (even if it's only while scoped) it could make a great map again. It wouldn't have worked in Halo 2 though. Sniper CTF and plasma weapon only CTF on Hang em High were good variations to play.
Boarding Action is one level I could do without. Although to be fair, playing any sort of team sniper game with 8+ people is a lot of fun.
Halo2:
Halo 2 had some good levels, but I think that they were too hung up on the asymmetric thing. I want more symmetric levels because 1 flag isn't as fun as 2 flag in my opinion. Scrap that...I don't need symmetry, but at least give me equally defendable bases. Placing a flag on an open beach is a joke. I think the following levels would make great returns with minor improvements:
Midship is pretty good as is. I'll take it. Maybe more projectile weapons so I don't have to fight for my team's only battle rifle.
Zanzibar is really cool. All it really needs it a second base located on the beach. Same thing with Burial Mounds. How cool would it be if there was a second base. That level would be awesome for 2 flag. I just want to give the second team a chance to defend.
I'd also like to see a city level like Turf, only with rooftop combat (I know you could get onto some rooftops on turf, but it's not really obvious to all players how to do it. If turf was a little bigger and more open (maybe take some of the COD 2 desert city maps for inspiration) then rooftop combat could add to a positive game experience.
The only map I really NEED back is Damnation. As I said before, it's my favourite level in the Halo universe..
