Well, this is my alternate account since it wouldn't let me link my gamertag. I am a member since '05. But on this account all I get is disrespect, even when I try and help somebody. And when I switch back to my m3rokit account I get major respect from everyone. Is it just me or are alot of members on bungie.net prejudice in a way?

Thank you for your time,

-Rokit-

People are judging apon your member since date. Not what is within your post. I feel descriminated against. Unless I am in this forum talking to mods and other people like you bacon greese that know exactly who I am.

Hey Roki7, Everytthing I've ever read from you has been pretty good. I don't know why people would disrespect you. Although, I have noticed the "importance?" that some members put in how long they have been here. If I'm not mistaken, there have even been a few threads here and there that talk about veterans. This confuses me. What does being here longer have to do with how much people actually contribute?

You what that spells? That's right, resectp!

Ahummm, sorry for the Ali G reference there. Yes there is a lot of disrespect. Sometimes I really wish we couldn't see the join dates, or that it could be hidden in some way.
It's just like with the post counter, people started to spam just to look important, because a high post count apparently determines your "importance" level.
Same goes for join dates. if you joined early, people think that's cool. And when someone joins after you, he/she "sucks".
I'm not sure what there is to do about it, other than ignoring it.

Many people on this website have this weird notion that "Member Since" date means more than the date that a member joined this site. I really don't know why, but that is the way it is. Anyway, I just see people with a "Member Since" date prior to mine as an even bigger nerd than myself, since they've been coming to this site longer than I have.

By the way, that would make Achronos the biggest nerd here.... :-)

Exactly, and I have never viewed the forums this way. Not the year that I have been here. Once I got a new account it was like a slap in the face. I never new people could be so disrespectful to someone that has all the knowledge that they have, but with a early member since number. And I have been wondering the same thing. Kind of makes me pissed though to all the good hearted people that join this group of people and get degraded against.

Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

There are probably several users who joined in 2004/2005, posted a few times, left, came back several months later, posted a few times, left, etc. My "Member Since" date says March 19th, but I didn't become an active member until June. There are also many cases where a person has visited the site for a while, but has only created an account recently will constantly say that they have been around for a while. I never know if they are lying to make themselves seem more knowledgable, or if they are telling the truth and trying to save themselves some sort of ridicule. Regardless, I sort of bleep over those parts, because I don't see how it matters that they've been here for a long time. I've seen accounts from 2004 that act like they were spam accounts freshly made.

People are the problem. Lack of people would be the obvious solution, but that wouldn't really work in the grand scheme of things.

The only time I even look at the join date is when I see that someone has posted something in the wrong forum, or makes a mistake that someone new to the site would make. I'll try to make a constructive comment if they're new. If they've been here for awhile and are just forum challenged, my comments are usually less 'constructive'.

I really don't think its a problem that can be fixed. Every place on the internet, like ours, has the same problem. If you are a constructive member (which I think you are) than you really shouldn't have much to worry about.

Here's a nice example of this. In that popluarity thread, I got a 6/10 despite the fact that he had never seen me before, but said it was because of my join date. Little did he know, I was very inactive for several months after I joined. I'm actually surprised that my account didn't 'splode, now that I think of it.

That's why I just use my old account, my new one is for gamertag linking purposes. I just keep it active by logging on occasionally.

And I just like this one better.

Switching between passports is annoying. I'm suprised you have been able to do it for so long. What if we were to confront Achronos with the solution of hiding the member since icon thing. Would he be able to fix it? Or at least consider?

I look at member dates, I just don't care. Regarding the post that someone will say: "ALL THE 06 PEOPLE ARE STUPID". I challenge you, track down your first post here. Compare it to the insults you throw at the new members, we all started out like that. Give them a year or so, then you can judge them.

I did, it was in a Warthog Ownage release by Bear Productions. Yes, I was immature, but I have flamed nobody on here. Except for the people that send me group invitations.

Poppycock, I know for a fact that because I have been here longer than you, I deserve the right to Modhood. But noooooo, Achronos had to be all biased and go off and pick a bunch of "fresh" members. Hmph. I am so much better than you.

Hey know, lets not get into a discussion about someone becoming a moderator before you. This is not the thread for that. Now, lets get back on topic.

Phrog pilots, reckless and free. We would strap into our birds, set the engines on fire, and leave these earthly bonds with a chorus of WHOP WHOP WHOP. Akin to beating your chest and howling in defiance at the rest of the world.

I wouldn't worry about it M3 Roki7. The type of people that you actually want to talk with, and care about their opinion, aren't concerned with your Member Since date. Those guys that give you a hard time are probably not your cup of tea anyway.

Perhaps you didn't understand the tone of my post, but I was joking.

Then again, maybe you did understand and now I am the one foolishly taking you seriously. D'oh!

Anyway, I agree with you. Member date is not important.
