No. Why?

1) Keyes was on Truth and Reconciliation when the ring blew. The ship was still on the installation.

2) Gravemind was on a different Halo.

3) SPARTAN 117 ripped his face out.

Keys was turning into a gravemind. However, he is not the gravemind we meet in Halo 2.

I wish I still had that picture steve made. It was like MC's Hand + Keyes' Skull = A very dead captain keyes.

can anyone read the first sentence. i was just wondering

I like me.

Of course, if the flood is a hive mind, captain keye's brain could have been transferred to Gravemind.... but i doubt it. The range is probably too far away.

unless it can go from halo 04 to delta halo within two months wich is impossible cause they are split across the galaxy!!!

Well I put maybe, because the halo ring did blow up but Gravemind has the "teleportation" power and could've warped his ass out of there before Halo installation 05 went BOOM, and go himself to installation 04, but its just a thought and the range would be pretty...big....

Captain Keyes was absorbed by a type of Gravemind. If you remember one of the cutscenes in the original Halo, Keyes was in a big blob. There was an outline of his face. And in Halo 2 the Gravemind absorbed one of the prophets remember? Also in the HGN (Halo Graphic Novel) multiple graveminds can be made. They grow rapidly fast and gain the intelligence of all they absorb (has to be sentient). So I voted maybe for he is one, but is not the Gravemind you are thinking of.

No. Sorry if this is considered flame, but if you said yes... you're fu**in' stupid. Anyone who played Halo: Combat Evolved, knows that Chief took out his brain chip thingy. Anyway, Gravemind, was there before humans were even brought upon Earth. Remember on Halo 2, he said he saw the fall of the Forerunners.

The blob that Keyes was a part of was the beginning of a Gravemind.

However, you're asking about Installation Five's Gravemind. No. Keyes and his blob were destroyed when Installation 4 was blown up. Even if he wasn't, the Gravemind on Installation 5 is fully formed, and old, very old.

Keyes was loyal to the protocals and rules and regulations and every part of human life, he doesn't want to destroy it. Have you heard what happens to the hosts. They're still alive as the flood takes over, controling it. They feel the pain of the popcorns burrowing into their brain, then us blowing their arms off. I don't think Keyes would put people through that.

Besides, the gravemind is what has always controled the flood from back to the Forunners, Keyes isn't that old.

** Graphic Novel Spoiler*

In the GN, it was revealed that the Flood upon release begin to create a leader creature out of corpses. Captain Keyes would have eventually turned into a GraveMind like creature, but as someone else said, he is not the Gravemind we see in Halo 2.
