Not to long ago (2 min) someone posted a thread with -blam!- inside. The blam is the word horn replacing the "h" with a "p". Some of you might also remember the sweet art thread posted about one month ago. Containing -blam!- aswell. Also Jennele4now's spree of making threads with -blam!- inside. Then there was the site that had to do with the lemons. I ask you, is the forums safe anymore? Can we actually breath, post, and click links securley anymore?

You do realize that the target of the link appears at the lower left corner of your browser, right? Also, if its a tiny url link, there is a way to enable it to show you where the link takes you before you go to it. I can't remember how to enable it, but I'm sure someone around here does. So really, while some people do post that (This isn't the only forums, I'm glad there is no embedded pictures here), its up to you on how safe you make your visit.

dude, you pulled a jesus!

As long as the moderators ban, and the members learn to look where the link goes before they click, then we're safe.

  • 07.24.2006 2:10 PM PDT

I suppose it will boil down to the credability of the poster. If you trust the poster, click the link. If not, well, use your own discretion.

If you're an IE user, yes. Hover over a link and check the url located at the bottom of the brower. If it looks dodgy, don't click, if they use tiny url, turn on the "preview" option to view the full url before going to it.

We are, in general, safe and these cases are usually dealt with quickly and swiftly.

That's the key right there.

In addition, you can always help by doing your best to notify the moderators if you see any bad stuff out there. You can PM them or send e-mail to bnetmods@gmail.com, that's what I do.

I agree. Give me the banstick, just for 10 minutes, watch them fall.

Yes, I check the links. But when the lemon site first came up. Did you expect it to be -blam!-? Sites today can be to devious. Look like it will be one thing and turns out to be something totally different.

The thread was dealt with within minutes. But if it's safe? Meh, just be careful and try not to click on every visible link. Also be sure to report to the mods when you see something bad.

For Carnage, Apply Within.

I have returned from the Untamed Lands. MOAP is dead.

As everyone has stated previously, notifying a moderator is great advice. There's also an even better option which some members never choose, and that's don't reply to spammers.

"Don't Feed The Trolls". It just bumps their thread to the top of the forum. Even if a member replies with something like "I PMed a mod", or "you're gonna get blacklisted", it does not help. Spammers just want attention, don't let them get it unless it's from a ninja.

Whoops. Sorry about that. I'm a little slow at typing and I wrote my response before you said that. Just took me a while to submit. :P

Don't worry about it.

The forums as an entity are safe. It's the spammers like that who post malicious links that you need to watch for.

I made a thread in the Flood because someone posted...well...lets just say it was worse than lemons having parties. The official guide was posted here afterwards, but the thread in the Flood was to warn people to be careful what they click. That goes for all of you..*ahem*
