"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his freinds." John 15:13

I have no idea whether this has ever been brought up or discussed, but please let me know what you think…. The good, bad, ugly, -blamming-, and everything else you think.

Ok, so here it is. Everyone assumes that the structure in the E3 trailer is the ark. But what if it isn’t the ark… what if it is only part of the ark? I was thinking that the structure looked an awful lot like a giant engine… or maybe a giant slipspace generator. What if the entire Earth is the ark? This is my theory. The forerunners built a giant slipspace generator on Earth to use the Earth as a type of “ark” if the Halos were ever activated. When this were to happen, the “Great Journey” the Covenant always talk about would begin by the Earth flying out of the blast radius of the Halos.

Well, there it is… let me know what you think!

Very interesting, no one has come up with that before.
If that is so then the HALO series would get very interesting
with another galaxy being involved.

Then wouldn't the forerunners have used it before when they activated the halos?

Your mother is so fat, she tried to jump through Halo and got stuck.

Go check out ma file share. plz? lol

I think that part of the Ark is a beacon or something. Maybe it forms a shield around Earth?

  • 07.24.2006 7:58 PM PDT

Interesting... That would make a little more sense when looking at the biblical "Ark" aspect. The Earth doesn't simply protect from the Halos, it actually takes you away from them (like the boat). Good idea.

I have no idea what a slipspace generator would look like... but Im guessing that is a pretty good idea what it would look like. And who says the forerunners couldnt be whever Earth would end up?

We know very little about the foreruners, but rest assured that they did not die without cause.

I think your onto something.

What if the previous "journey" by the forerunners was really the creation of earth, and earth is really the one true safe place if the rings would ever activate. What if we are the future forerunners, what if our grandkids would be the people who built earth as a safe haven. Think about that. Why does the coventant want earth so bad in the second game? Maybe to protect their "ass-sets" if they screwed up on the whole ring of fire deal.

also, since the arbiter's followers and the humans have kinda peaced up, maybe the convenant is setting it off in protection of the human race and against the elder conventant peeps

I like it. I had a theory similar to this before... So... this is what I think... when the Ark is activated, the entire Earth is moved into slip space (and into safety) as the Halo's are activated. The Earth is then brought back down out of SS once the Halo's are done doing what ever it is they do...

The thing that makes me think this could be true is that... the Covenant are also right... think about it. They talk of a "Great Journey", would an entire planet being transferred into SS not be considered a "Great Journey"?

...Think about it....

I am suprised no one has mentioned it but the "ark" or whatever we want to call the structure has an uncanny resemeblance to the top of high charity.

Because at the cutscene of the "arbiter" mission the top of High Charity has similar size and relatively the same shapes as the mysterious structure.

Now we also see the underside of High Charity in many occasions; and the dome opening structure is similar to that found in the trailer. So would it might be safe to assume that High Charity and the "ark" might be one in the same. Because as we all know the forerunners built several "Halos" so if the covenant is so good at "refitting forerunner technology" it is highly likely that there are more then one "High Charities" and that it is a forerunner piece.

That is just my observations from the games and trailer.

I believe it was said somewhere that the Ark isn't Earth, but something on Earth.

I agree with the concept of whether the Ark begins the "Great Journey" as a transport device away from the Halos.

I would suspect that the Earth is the Ark. If you use the bible as a reference, an Ark was used to hold something of great importance(to ensure the animals survived the great flood.)
In Halo, we don't have animals of great importance, but we do have 'The Flood' I bet Earth (the Ark) is a forerunner breeding ground for the Flood. And you need something or someone to look after the Ark too (quite possibly bured deep inside the Earth are the Fore runner)

Buried deep within the Earth is a compressed Halo - Intallation 01. The object shown in the trailer is the keyhole used to activate the buried Halo and the Forerunner ship is the key to unlock it. Once the Halo is activated, it will start expanding and will cause a huge chasam around the Earth that will cross both the North and South poles. Once it's fully expanded it will encircle the Earth, making it look like very similar to Saturn.
