Because you are what you eat, and you know what it is.

Personally, I am a Floodian, and people making false links and what not has got me fed up.

I think it may be a good idea just to do away with hyperlinks on this website.

Your thoughts?

its like a large force of win going through fusion, thus creating a chain reaction of a huge asplosion of win destroying any fail within its awesomeness.

Simple...hover your cursor above the link and look at the bottom left corner...it should display the URL.

...and for the second time today, I'm begging the community to read this. It will make your lives much, much better.

I've seen about three links to "shock sites" today. I didn't actually click any, I just looked at the preview of the URL in the bottom left corner of my browser. So i don't think they should be banned, people just have to realise that little preview in the bottom. Maybe one of the moderators should make a sticky that gives a warning about shock sites and to always look at the URL before clicking.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Well the mods do their jobs well so i don't think they need to remove hyperlinks.

  • 07.24.2006 9:04 PM PDT

I think they should. This guy just sent three links. Luckily, I'm not nieve enough to click a link. Especially when it has girl in the link. But others weren't so lucky.

Guys, calm down.. this happens ALL the time. There is no need to ban hyperlinks.. I read FightingRaven's thread and found the tiny url preview thing and script blocker to be of great use. Just learn to get around and/or ignore the spam.

Skillet was here and referred to himself in the third person.

I do the preview of the website and then go on my merry way.

And hyperlinbks should NEVER be removed from the site for this simple reason. So many people use them for other things than disgusting lemon party sites.

Yeah, doubt they'll be removed. If you've got Windows, you should be able to see what the links take you to. Common sense, people....

No, hyperlinks can do some good in this forum. Its one of the few abilities that we as members have left. I have just learned never to click on any links in the flood without checking the site url at the bottom of the page and checking the first couple of posts. the first two or three posts will usually tell you is its something discusting or not.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

There's a certain risk involved with clicking hyperlinks. If you're prepared to accept that risk, click away. If you aren't well, simply don't click. Don't get rid of them just because you had to see something disgusting though.

Common sense, people....

Unfortunately, that is exactly what most members are lacking. If they did have common sense, then we wouldn't have this problem, would we?

Because you are what you eat, and you know what it is.

The only other Idea I have is for there to be more banned sites.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Well if people just report it to a mod then the mod will be either able to delete the link or just delete the whole thread. If it is a multiple offender then they could levy a ban as well. The main thing as that the mods can't go around checking every link. That is what the good members of the community are for. Help them and they will help us.

Bingo! If it's bad, report it. I doubt, and i sincerely hope, that hyperlinks will never be taken. Perhaps a website blacklist feature will be implemented some time in the future.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

I think that's an incredibly bad idea. Hover your mouse over the link first so you can see where your going and use caution. The benefits far outweigh the risks, especially if you are careful. I have never clicked a shock site link, and I don't think it will be too difficult for me to continue avoiding such sites. Banning individual sites would be good, however.

The problem doesn't lay within the Hyperlinks, but the Users. And as far as I know...every time I have reported a "shock site" the user was banned immediately.

But there is even a more challenging problem...TinyURL.com. I honestly think that there should be some kind of rule against it. Of course it helps the honest members shorten up our sigs so we can have more "dynamic" signatures...but what can be used for good, can be used for bad.

Ah, but that is why TinyUrl has so kindly provided a Preview Feature.

Yes, but I don't think that all of the users know...it still remains a problem. Maybe there is some kind of system or "blam" filter that could simply "-blam!-" out the URL's of the Shocksites...

dude, you pulled a jesus!

Well I've only seen one spammer use tinyURL for hiding a shock site. I think that most spammers either don't know about it or just don't feel like going through all that trouble. When I start seeing more tiny shock links, then I might want tiny URLs removed.

As for hyperlinks, I don't think that the misuse of it by a few people should ruin it for the millions of users that use it right. There's far more good in hyperlinks than there is bad.

I've only clicked on a bad link once.

Note to self: lemon party = bad.
