As you know the Prophet of Truth is the leader of the covenent and even whean the three other prohets it seemed as Truth had the most authority of them all.In halo 3 we know for a fact that Truth and his forces have landed on earth and trying to activate the Ark which is supposed activate the remaining halos. To the covenent activating the Ark will take them all to ''The great Journy'' but in the past the prophets had possesion of 343 guilty spark so they must of known the truth. So is Truth's goal galactic suicide or does Truth believe that the ark can protect his forces and wipe every other thing clean.Only time will tell.Would do you think.

Well when we first saw Gravemind he had possession of the prophet of Regret, and Regret said something along the lines "of all of the things the gods left behind why did they leave behind this!" referring to guilty tangent or w/e monitor of delta halo and he finishes with "they know NOTHING of the great journey"

So I guess the monitors tried telling them but they just wouldn't listen. Whether Truth knows whats about to happen is beyond me.

Kraken has a good point there can also be a chance that the monitors words were not taken into consideration at all. Then again Truth is a reasonably differnt prophet. It seems to me that Truth has his own plans.

Yea exactly. Bungie would try to make the plot surprising for us, so I also believe that Truth has ulterior motives.

Unfortunately, I think Truth is just ignorant. He now has to run the entire Covenant army by himself as it falls to pieces all around him. As for alterior motives, Truth had always seemed power hungry.

The quote was:

Gravemind held Regret: Of all the objects our Lords left behind, there are none as worthless as these Oracles! They know nothing of the Great Journey!

Gravemind held 2401 Penitent Tangent: And you know nothing about Containment. You have shown complete disregard for even the most basic protocols.

Gravemind: This ones, "containment" [growl] and this ones "Great Journey" are the same...

And I don't see how this has anything to do with Truth believing in his own cause or not.

He might care though. For him, it might just be all about activating/using the Ark. While his falling armies are distracting Earth's forces, he might just sneak past everything to use the Ark.

Does everybody believe that the Ark can at the same time protect truth if he activates the ark and he stays inside of it?

No. However Truth does intend to be protected, inside the Ark or outside of it.

Thats true but the Prophet of Truth must have something to protect his Brute forces and himself if he plans to activate the Ark.

Tartarus was Truth's real connection between the Brutes and the Prophets. Seeing that Tarty has gone the way of the (anything that is no longer living), I wonder who (if anyone) will take his place.

In one of the halo novels a new Brute comes to take Tartys new place. This sounds like something believable to happen in Halo 3 but there still is no way to find out yet.

I think Truth is too smart for "self delusion" i'm thinking that we're gonna get a couple of GREAT twists in Halo 3 and that, as bungie said, we're gonna finish all the fights we started in halo 1.

I have listened to the Oracle, and it has been confirmed now. The Great Journey begins at Earth.-Truth

And this time, none of you will be left behind...-Mercy

The rest is up to you to think about. Is there really a Great Journey?

The Prophet of Truth is hiding a very important clue from everyone, including the other Prophets. I believe he has seen evidence that the Prophets are not , in fact, descendents of the Forerunners as they claim to be. There has been speculation that this is somehow connected with the Prophet of Truth ordering the human race wiped out instead of inviting them in to the Covenant. This may also be the underlying cause for Truth to replace his Elite guards with the more gullible Brutes. Perhaps he thought the Elites would eventually catch on.

Where is that said, is that in the Level "Gravemind"? Most of the background things that are said are hard to hear.

You are probably right. In Coversations from the Universe two elites are talking about humans. Here is the quote.

>>>Extract of sanctioned Sangheili eavesdrop// For the attention of Jiralhanae military adjunct ambassador>>>

"The Humans are weak, but they are tenacious. Even the smallest ones hurl themselves against our defenses with honor. If only the Unggoy were as committed."

>>>I wonder about the Humans, Commander. Their technology is limited, but some of it is useful and their battle techniques are impressive. They are excellent strategists. But what I ask is this: Why have we not offered them the absolution of the Covenant? From the beggining of this war, the Prophets have made no attempt to absorb the or even offer the option of honorable submission. Why?

Perhaps they fear them? We do not know where their homeworld is. Their pattern of retreat is either hopelessly random or brilliantly conceived. What if the Humans have more power, more numbers than we suspect? What if they lead us to a trap?

>>>No. I do not think that is the reasoning. They continue to lose territory, and pattern or no pattern, these defenses must be part of a perimeter. I suspect we are forcing them into a tighter arena than they care to fight in - soon we may be able to use the Sharquoi. And their victories, however few, always rely on the same thing - strategy, brute force, or luck. No. The only secret they hold is the location of their homeworld."

It keeps going on after that. The Sharquoi must be a new species that has not yet been encountered because the species manual on the back of Conversations doesn't mention them. Brutes are Jiralhanae. Drones are Yanme'e. Elites are Sangheili. Engineers or Savants are Huragok. Grunts are Ungoy. Hunters are Lekgolo. Jackals are Kig-Yar. Prophets are known as Prophets to the Covenant.

The brites are more controlable.Don't get wrong getting rid of the elites was a stuped move on the prophets behalf but I can see potential in the Brute race.

Hey thanks, I was just going to bring this up that there is something wrong here. Because we all know from the Halo Novels that the Covenant is just a put together or the assimilation of different Alien races and it is wierd that they wouldnt want to expand thier source of manpower by assimiating humans since it is easy for us to breed and we can breed in great numbers.

I'm going to shorten my theory here, so heres the dumbed down version:

I think Truth is a pawn. He may not know he's a pawn, but I think things were put into motion for him to believe in this "Great Journey" by forces much greater than his own.

To explain who would be treating him as "pawn", I have to go back and explain my theory. Dumbed down version is simple: The Forerunners had time-bending technology (books, read about the crystal). The ark is made to protect you from the devistation of Halo (or so the name would suggest). Halo was designed not to destroy structures or worlds, but to destroy sentient life only. This seems like an important fact of its design. Seems to me the Ark transports you to another time using the same time-bending technology the crystal used.

I don't wanna go into sub-theories and explain what the Forerunners would have planning, as thats basing theory off theory and it starts to become a guessing game, but I believe the Forerunners at least INTENDED to survive Halo by using the Ark to 'bend' time and transfer them to a time after the first actual firing of the Halos. I'm not sure where Truth would fall into all this, but knowing Bungie hes playing right into their hands. I just fail to believe a race that technologically advanced that could create time-bending technology and weapons that would obliderate all life (other than their very own created Flood, which I think may be intentional since they created BOTH - or so it seems -, but why?) wouldn't have come up with a way to survive it. And if I had the ability to bend time and an in an instant destroy all life in the galaxy, I'd just make sure I didnt exist in the galaxy at that moment in time. :)

The whole thing that fits frighteningly into all of this though is the Flood more so than the Covenant. I think the Covenant is just a byproduct of time and civilization, as were the humans. I dont think they have any direct relation to these events whatsoever other than civilizations whom have evolved.

The Flood appear to have been created by the Forerunners, or at least harvested and controlled. What bothers me about this is that the rings were designed to destroy everything BUT them (to starve them, but not inhiliate them, just to put them back into submission). I'm not sure for what purpose this would be, but it reminds me of StarCraft (Or Aliens if you're not zerg-knowledable). But now were getting into that theory based on a theory crap. /ramble

Edit: Also know this is based off alot of knowledge from the books. When I read about the crystal, that's what I started to think. But I still believe the Ark would be in some shape or form a way to save those who use Halo. It's quite possible the flood somehow had gotten inside and inhiliated the forerunner race, but if the Ark does what it would suggest it does (and I believe it, uh, does) there has to be a reason we havent seen the Forerunners yet. I don't believe it was Halo that wiped them out. It could have been the Flood. Or it could have done something entirely different to them. I don't really know, but the best explination I could come up with as to why the ark would save them but we havent seen them is .. time bending crystal from the novels. They coulda very well been exterminated, it's quite possible. Or even more frightening, the Prophets could be direct descendants of the Forerunners and know exactly what they're doing. Who knows, I'm going to stop speculating and wait for the game now.
