In the trailer you can see New Mombasa in the background behind the crater.
If Regret did a Slipspace jump why is it still there?
Shouldn't it be a smoking crater?

i dont think thats the ruins of new mombasa, i remember someone saying thats a space tether from the space elevator in new mombasa but not the city itself. mt kilamanjaro and the current day mombasa are pretty far away. and from what i could tell in game the "new mombasa" is just across a bridge so thats puts them in relatively the same spot

January 30, 2004 (Warthog's Day)
The Master Chief emerged from his code. After seeing his dynamically lit realtime shadow, he went back for 9 more months of development.

Behold the power of the Originals, the Gods Axeone-Neurone.

You are both right. When we first see the MC the loops in the background are the remains fo the space elevetor. But when you look out accross the crater, in the far distance is the outlines of a city, New/Old Mombasa. The reason it could still be partially standing is how much damage did the slipspace jump cause. The city could have been so big that parts of it were outside the blast radius.

I am...whimsical today.

True, it is 500 years into the future, despite any civil wars the city would undoubtably have developed into something massive. It may even strectch to the area seen in the teaser.
