Meaning of life. Well, it used to be, "Don't get eaten by the lion."

I suppose that would be a little out of date. There is no static meaning of life because people have different motives, and opposing views of the reality around them. "Don't eat stuff off the sidewalk", is ironically, this is the truest meaning of life I've heard. Think about the deeper social implications of eating off the sidewalk.

Brilliant.

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

The meaning is whatever the hell you want it to be, because besides that there isn't one.
Gives you a lot of choice, doesn't it?

We all physically come into being to the exact; as well, we all physically decay to a point of non-functionality, death, if you will, to the exact. These common paramaters, physical beginning and end, are what define “life,” as this topic has come to know it. All that is in between, which is what we tend to think of as “in our hands,” would then have no bearing on the beginning, which would also mean we have no bearing on the end. If you hold this view, then one could see that there is a possible universal answer, because we all universally exist and die to the exact. To that end, we only have influence on that which is between existence and non-existence, which would have no bearing on existence (life) in the first place. So, we (humanity) can not give a universal reason to our existence, because we do not control it. The answer lyes beyond scientific, mathematical, and religious reasoning, because reasoning exist in the middle of that which we do not control... existence and non-existence:-) lol

Let's start telling funeral jokes!
-------------------------------------------------------
A dying man calls a priest, lawyer, and doctor to his deathbed. He tells them, "I have $90,000 hidden beneath my matress. I would like you to each throw $30,000 into my grave as they bury me.
Each of them go home with $30,000 in an envelope that night. The man dies, and they all go to his funeral, each throwing in an envelope.
The priest says, "I can't keep this silent. I needed $10,000 for my new church, so that envelope only had $20,000 in it. May God forgive me."
To which the doctor replies, "I must admit to the same thing. I needed $20,000 for new equipment, so I only threw in $10,000. I hope that you are not too angry with me for this."
The lawyer stops and says to both of them, "I can not believe that either of you would be so selfish! I threw in my personal check for the whole amount."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Three old friends were talking one day, when the subject somehow turned to how they wanted to be remembered after their death.
The first friend said, "At my funeral, I want them to say that I was a brave soldier, and a brave man. I regret nothing that I've done in my life."
The second friend says, "I wanmt them to all say that I was a great father and husband, and that I was always kind to my family."
The third friend then says, "I want everyone at my funeral to say 'Look! He's moving!'"

Life is an anomally. Don't question it, for there is only a now, never a later. There is never a past, only now. Quit worrying about the meaning, for there isn't one to be found. We are here by sheer luck, and the odds were against us in the first place. If the entire Earth were to vanish in an instant, no one would care. There would be no mourning the next day. It would be over, and our trivial existance would fade into nothing, much as if an alien species is completely destroyed light years away, it has no effect on us and we have no reason to care. Live for now. Quit worrying about the petty, and worry about what matters now, in the instant you are flowing through. Even if you are nothing but a highschool drop out, a peon at your friendly corporation, a baker, a school teacher, a doctor, a bum or a 14 year old middle school student, your life is still yours. I believe a meaning of life is to live it without restraint, for when you die you can never do it again, and if you die tomorrow, even if you are forgotten, did you make the best of what you had? There is no absolute meaning, but it is yours. Don't live life as a slave to what is around you with promises of a better tomorrow if the better tomorrow is nothing but a dream. The American Dream is just that. I can't tell you the meaning, but I know for a fact the answer will never be "To make lots of money, drive fancy cars and live in a big house." If so, why did people live before 1900?

this is one of the great questions of Man, as such it delves into religion, a lot. THat having been said, I'm going to state my belief on the meaning of life. So please don't flame if your views are different or opposite (if you want to discuss it that's cool, or if you want to state what you believe is the meaning of life, that's cool too).

I believe that we were made as spirits before the earth was formed, that we grew and gained knowledge, until we we reached a point where we couldn't progress further in gaining knoweledge, greatness, and happiness. the Being who had created us wanted us to enjoy every thing that he did so he came up with a plan that would enable us to do just that. To be able to continue we needed to be able to have a physical body, we also needed to leave to see what kind of decisions we would make on our own. Depending on what decisions we make here in this life willl decide how (and how much) we will continue to grow, learn and develop in the next life. Because of that we all have the potential to learn all knoweledge and be able to use it.

[color=lime]***INCOMING MESSAGE FROM DURANDAL***

Greetings. You're asking yourself: Is this a trap or just
a dead end?

You shouldn't ask yourself such worthless questions. Aim
higher. Try this: why am I here? Why do I exist, and what is
my purpose in this universe?

(Answers: 'Cause you are. 'Cause you do. 'Cause I got a
shotgun, and you ain't got one.)

Notably Unstable,
Durandal

P.S. If things around here aren't working, it's because I'm
laughing so hard.
