I understand that the mods have other forums to moderate...but do you think it could be possible to start locking threads in the Halo 3 Forum? Especially all the repeat topics. I think ti would actually make moderating that forum easier because there wouldn't be ten threads about the same topic being made every ten second.

How many times do you have to look at a thread with the title "OMG! THE MOST AWESOME IDEA EVER! READ!!!!!!1!!!!!oneoneoneone!!!!!11" and then you open it to see something like "What if they puts the honour gard staff in Hallo3?"

I mean...I've seen the same thread made ten times over and over in there constantly because most people are to ignorant to read the stickies and post in the right thread!

So could the moderators maybe crack down on the Halo 3 Forum a little buit harder? Maybe hand out a few BLs and lock a few threads? Or is the Halo 3 Forum destined to become another Zanzibar?

In my opinion your asking the moderators to do a lot. From what i can tell most of the repeated threads usually die down. Dont expect each moderator to read every single post there, we dont want to kill their eyes. The moderators are doing a pretty decent job considering the sheer volume of threads created and posts.

Maybe some of the new shinys can look over that forum. Whenever the new shinys become shinys. It definitely needs some more shiny attention.

Too many shinys. They blinded me already.

I'm not asking for every moderator to go there and stay there..but there are so many repeat topics...why can't people just read the stickies and post in the right threads?

Sorry to hear how bad it's gotten. Just be like us "smart" people and stay away from there. It's bad news. One day I was a flamer. Even flamed my best friend. But yes, it is going to become the next Zanzibar, they might even get lucky enough to have the same name as a multiplayer map.

Because they think that whatever they have to say is better then anyone else's. They think that their posts are better then the previous ones. Sad, really.

Locking repeat topics? *twitch*

Sorry, something in my eye.

Nearly every page of the 617 pages of 25 threads each... (that's over 15 thousand threads) were created because someone has something to say about the game that they know nothing about. All of that discussion is based on a couple of minutes of video and the name of the game. Nothing more.

It's all speculation, and in one way or another, it's nearly all duplication. sure, it could all be locked and believe it or not, we are working and moderating that forum... but it is a sandbox unto itself. It is what it is, and the members of this site and posters in that forum make it what you see. As long as a thread doesn't violate the site or forum rules, it is a valid thread.

From Teh R0olz:

Don't spam or "clone" threads.
See, now that has to have been broken somewhere in the Halo 3 Forum!

You know I don't see how complaining about the Halo 3 forum in the Septagon forum is really going to help at all.

If the Halo 3 forum pisses you guys off that much just stay away from it. Durh!?

It isn't supposed to piss us off though. We're supposed to be able to have some good discussions about the game, not have to avoid it.

I would LIKE to see some good ideas for Halo 3 and post my own..but if everybody keeps posting the same thing over and over again my ideas won't get heard at all...and I'm NOT going to stoop to their level and start making repeat topics.

This is where you're supposed to bring up site issues. This would be the most applicable place to moan in actually.

The average I.Q. in the Halo 3 Forum is probably five. Realistically eighty. By now, about one topic per page hasn't been repeated.

I tried cracking down on there, and the stress cost me my gall bladder...

The simplest thing to remember is, your posts are gonna be lost unless you use the Threads of Interest Sticky and/or make a dynamite post. As for the rest, let them run their course for now, they will all soon be forgotten while the people who used the stickies will remember where they posted that killer piece of info / awesome idea...

I heard you had too get a new one from twitch.

Hows that working for you?

Cracking down on the Halo 3 forum would be like taking elrond into the orcs base.(BFME:2)

You might win, but they'll just keep making more men.

I say the mods wage a holy war and cleanse the Halo 3 forum.

Blacklist every user, lock every stupid repeated irrelevant thread. Cleanse the forums of infidels...

Boo repetitive topics! Hooray Beer! (for all of you who have seen the commercial)

But seriously, you guys complaining about the Halo 3 forum need to face some facts:
* Fact one: Halo 3 content is limited to a 2:30 minute teaser and a 7:00 minute 'making of' video
* Fact two: Tons of new 'Halo 3 generation' Bnet users are joining up bringing enthusiasim and perhaps a little inexperience.

Considering all of the above, common sense would tell you that really there is no solution to the problem. Which is why I said:

I wasn't trying to sound like a jerk saying that ^, but perhaps I worded it wrong. Try; staying away from the forum until it cools off --- by no means stay away for good!

Seriously, I'm going on to my second month of not posting in the Halo 3 forum. Rainbows appeared by my window and little colorful butterflies trailing pixie dust are flying around. You should try it ;)
