I know it has already happened, so keep your whining away. Anyone here, hopefully many, who has read the Halo Novels can understand the hatred that developes against the Covenant, and in my opinion Bungie introduces the element far too softly. After years of the Convenant wiping out multiple colonized planets, Master Cheif would be anything but eager set foot around the Arbiter, much less go over three seconds without shoving the barrell of a gun down his throat and just unloading.

Considering that humanity is essentially down to its last defense (a fragile one at that), I doubt the soldiers would have anything to say about it. The leaders of Humanity would jump at the chance to get such a powerful ally, and the soldiers would simply be forced to deal wiht it.

I would like it if some of the elites align with the humans and some don't, so you can still fight against them and at the same time fight alongside them.

I don't mind the alliance, I jsut want it to be very loose and to slowly degrade as the game progresses.

And by the final level, I think it'd be cool to see every faction going at it in a huge battle.

Yeah because there have still got to be Elites that are totally brainwashed into the Convenant religion, I see what you mean, Like a militia of elites. But just one is a clever idea, because Arbiter could be used as a Covenant mole or something.

Think about it, the only reason that the elites fought humanity was because they thought that they were imperiling the great journey (which they just found out is false)
Therefore they have no more reason to fight the humans other than their refusal to join the covenant (which is now nothing because there is no great journy)
On the other hand, the elites have a very good reason for fighting the brutes. (who the humans are also fighting)

SOOOOO.....

put 2 and 2 together!

the elites and humans will eventually team up (along with the grunts and hunters)

(whew)

Yeah the Elites could whoop our asses alone, without the Covenant, but I think Bungie introduces it too lightly, even though they haven't fully introduced it, i would expect mass chaos in the Covenant with the Brutes overthrowing the Elites, I suppose we'll see.

Well think about it this way. Chief knows the humans are pretty much screwed since the Covenant found Earth, sure he might not like or trust the Elites, but he would probably deal with it for the sake of the human race. But he would be VERY suspicious about these new found alies.

EDIT: The humans never refused to join the Covenant, they were never given a chance to join. When the Covenant and humans first came into contact the humans were obliterated. The Covenant even sent a message that said" Your destruction is will of the gods and we are their instrument". So yeah we never really could join them.

I don't believe all the elites will suddenly jump to humanity's aid. There'd still be the initial chaos from the betrayal of the prophets, the fanatical ones that won't leave the old covenant no matter what, and then the ones that just want to fight on their own.

And I like chaos like that.

I does not matter how "screwed" humanity is, an alliance with the elites should not be possible.
We hate them, they have slaughtered millions of humans, they gave us no mercy
they laughed as they cut down men woman and children, would you ally whith such a creature?
They dispise us, for years the have hunted humans, for in the eyes of an elite, humans are vile disgusting creatures who do not deserve life. we have damaged holy relics, bared them for worlds sacred to their gods, and desroyed one of the sacred rings. no self respecting Sangheili would fall so low as to join with humans.

Perhaps you have forgotten Truth repeated himself over the Covenant intercom that the Elite, Hunter, and Grunts have been cast down. I don't think it would be too hard for the Elites to believe that when they are getting shot at by the remaining Covenant. I, for one, am all for an alliance. Elites kick raw unadulterated ass.
