I just beat heroic mode and am working on legendary, any tips? Keep in mind I don't suck and I just got the game, well actually I just got it back from my friend who stole it from me for 4 weeks!!!!!!!!! but I'm still pretty new to the game. So if you could give me any battle strategies or whatever you want to give me to help me through legendary mode, that would be awesome. THANKS

Sometimes running is required. But mostly just practice and keep at it.

Remember you cant kill all of them at once. I like to lure a few at a time using the odd weapon laying around, saving my better weapons for when things suddenly get deep. Also your marines can be a big help when you get them in a warthog.

Never make the first move on elites, unless their back is turned, because they are experts in kicking your ass in confined areas. Now for huge areas, suppress them with gun or grenade fire, then while they're preoccupied beat( if your close enough ) or shot the crap out of them. It seems even the elites lose sight of their goals when they are fearing for their life. Needlers, despite what people say, are great for killing an elite, and plasma grenades are a definite kill if attached to them. The reason I stress so much on the elites is that they are the smartest of yuor foes on Legendary difficulty. You can and will get overwelmed if you rush, so be tactical and watch your back. One mor thing, jackals are more inclined to rush you to distract you, while other covenant move in to flank you. Bungie sure did train their AI great.

Needlers are great for Elites, I didnt even use them because I thought they were week until I played legendary and found out they kick elites rear.

sometimes if im in a tight spot ill travel back a little bit, pick up a random weapon, and just exhaust its ammo on Jackals and grunts. the leaves me with all my better weapons for elites. Hunters are just as easy as they are on easy through heroic and arent suddenly hard.

The two pistols are good killing covies, use frag grenades on little groups of grunts and jackals, plasma nades on elites, snipe if you can, in some cases the needler is useful, shotgun for the flood.

Diversity is key. Use every weaopn they all have there strengths. I find the covenant weapons work great against the covenant. You have to mix up your weapons a lot in order to succeed. I remember my first time beating legendary, very gratifying. Good luck.

Legendary is all about the nades. Each elite carries at least 2 plasma nades usually, which means you should always try to hit an elite with at least 1. The best wpns to use on this is the plasma pistol and pistol. Charge up and shoot the elite, then try to get a head shot w/pistol. If close enough, save ammo by not charging up and just rapidly pull the trigger. On legendary, you will learn quickly that you need to shoot the plasma pistol MUCH faster. For the flood, use the shotgun of course, as well as the needer(works great on them if you rapidly shoot and time 7 shots onto a flood, it will explode and die) and plasma rifle/or maybe plasma pistol.

like someone said before, try to use at least some covenant weapons. my favorite of these are the plasma rifle and the needler. also, if you are facing a hunter (which you will face a lot of), you must have a pistol, or (for long range kills) an S2 AM sniper or M6D pistol. if you have a sniper, wait until they turn around, then aim for the orange spot on their back (there is also orange spots on their stomach and face, but you can only shoot them there if they don't know that you are there). if you have a pistol, then get close enough to them so that they can't shoot you with their fuel rod gun, then when they try to rush you, run around to the back of them and shoot the orange spot on their back. one shot should do it. thats about all that I have to say. good luck!

I think the level is called Keyes, anyway it's the one where you start the level in a circular room with several marines. Soon enough many cloaked Elites emerge with Plasma Swords.

It is key to have a Sniper Rifle....

That was the toughest part for me on Ledendary.

And tell your friend to get his own copy!!!!

That's "Truth and Reconciliation", and the AR is what I used on them.

I also found that I needed to take out some of the lesser opponents before attacking the Elites, as opposed to after.

On the easier game modes, Grunts and Jakcals wouldn't do very much in the way of harming you while you killed the Elites. On Legendary, you will get killed very quickly if you let the lessers hang around for the fight. The Jackals with the plasma pistols are ridiculous. They'll hit you with those charged shots and then shoot those pistols so fast that it looks like a machine gun.

Keep moving, and always leave your way back the way you came open. You will be retreating alot to let the shield recharge.

On the issue of grenades... you have to be really careful tossing around grenades on Legendary. Because there are so many of them laying around, when one blows up, you can set off some spectacular explosions as the others go up. It can be easy to get caught up in the mess. So make sure you are far enough away.

Im am in the same boat, but im gettin pretty good!
I would say that you HAVE to have at least one covi weapon, the best tactic against eliets is to plasma pistol the shield, and gun um down with your second weapon(Prefrably the human pistol).

Oh and nades are you Best Friend!!!!!!!!!! you throw one, the eliets jump and forget about you for a couple seconds!

Visit thw w00t.clan site, and ask in the forums for more info(all w00t.clan are legendary certified)

The pistol tactic also works on the Jackals' shields, which is nice considering how much of a PIA they are. The plasma pistol can be used to level Grunts, even when they are running around or away like the cowardly idiots that they are. They are also the most readily available weapon in the game, so use it over the human pistol when you can. Having the human pistol is also helpful when the Hunters come out, and the pistols are even useful against the Banshees. Same goes for plasma grenades vs. frags as far as availability is concerned.

I hate the sniper rifle on Legendary. I use it to kill whatever I can within close proximety of it's pick-up point, but after that, I just pick a plasma pistol back up.
