Subject: Something I found on Google about stosh and shishka

bah

I got blacklisted for a month by Shishka for, apparently, posting a picture of 2 sad kittens saying "Even kittens cannot save this thread now." It was a thread used over and over again. I don't know what was wrong with it. The reason stated "be careful when linking to other people's images." I decided not to argue it and just go with it. Still seemed a bit rough to me.
I would imagine there were other reasons for your ban than just that. There's nothing in the rules against making links. In fact, they have nice url tags for just that purpose. Anyone who puts something on the internet, even for private use only, has that content immediately open to viewing by anyone who can access it. The internet is a very public place in that way.

I personally find it amusing when people complain that a moderator banned them for a "minor" offense, without even a warning.

Here's a little tip: on bungie.net, a 7 day ban is your warning. Do you know who's idea that was? No, it wasn't Shishka, or Stosh. That was my idea. They just are following my guidelines. So, think of a 7 day ban like this - sure you got banned and you think you deserve a warning, but if I had caught you, I'd probably give you a "warning" of a 1 month ban. I'm waaaay meaner than the moderators - my theory is if you're doing something that hurts the enjoyment of this by even 1 person, you don't deserve to participate here.

So, consider a 7 day ban a good thing - because it is the equivalent of a moderator slapping you across the face at a party and telling you to shut it before they call security (i.e., permanently ban you).
so tom you like rule bungie?

Perhaps you should consider what I said instead of generalizing what the problem was.

Some sites stop people from offsite linking (that is linking from off the site, for the slow people out there) to images by rerouting anyone who clicks the link to another image, often one that says "Please do not link to images on our website" or something to that extent.

Not all websites are as pure about it. Nor do they have to be, it's their damn servers and people like you abuse their bandwidth by offsite linking. Occasionally in place of a simple logo or warning message, you'll find a site that'll link to something far more hideous.

You got lucky. The fact that I knew the website you had linked to and knew you were making an idiot of yourself by offsite linking to them is the reason why you only got a month, and not a permanent ban.

That's why I didn't argue. But at least a wall listens.

The wall would have blacklisted your ass, too.

I wonder what Shishka is like in real life, and what he was like in real life before he became a moderator. He was probably all happy and joyful before he joined these forums, and the sad and funny part of that is that this is probably true...

Stop posting notes to self on public Internet forums.

If we combine Shishka and bobBq's Genes we can create Shishkabob! It will be a giant success and a tasty dinner!

That's the smartest thing I have heard on these forums for a long time.

You try working in the part of Bungie that has massive cooling, but no heating. Have you ever huddled around a mass of X-Box 360 Power Bricks for warmth? Let him be grumpy....I'd still be worse.

Oh sure, I pretty much have a coalition in there. its like a mini retarted United nations, all inside my noggin.

The sad thing is, he isn't kididng about it. I've been there.

The peackeeping forces wear pink tu-tu's and have machine guns that fire cotton balls. Incredible imagination, that.

Back on topic: For Pete's sake, give me a break! It's only a week-long ban. Why in the world are these people complaining? Have they no lives to attend to off of these forums? Pathetic if you ask me.
