Do you have any idea how much time, money, and energy that would take? All three games use entirely different engines. You can't just important the objects/maps into the Halo 3 engine and expect everything to magically get pretty.
Beyond this, you have another huge gameplay problem: They are three different games you want to make seemlessly connect to create one large game. But your biggest most obvious problem there is the weapons in Halo 1, 2, and 3 are all different. You couldn't dual weild in Halo 1. Even if they extorted the retarded ammount of energy it would take to ENTIRELY REMAKE these games in a more advanced engine (Read as: Not only would they have to start from scratch with the new engine, they would have to use more time on high defenition textures, sound etc) but they would have to redesign the weapon systems in first and second game as well, which would create balance issues (unless you don't mind suddenly having entirely different weapons and the realization on how to dual weild and mount vehicles).
It would take a long, long time to recreate Halo 1 and 2 in the Halo 3 engine. Likely longer than the games originally took to make individually since you're dealing with a graphically advanced system. So you can go ahead and consider the production time of Halo 1 and 2 and then multiply that by at least 50% (I'd say more, but Bungie staff has since increased). Then add to that secondary production things such as seemless interface design, music, sound, physical production, marketing, liscensing, etc etc etc.
Now, do you really want them doing that for a year(s) or would you rather than bring downloadable content, patches, and bug fixes to Halo 3 and start working on the next kick-ass bungie project?
