Subject: Introducing things from the books

Personally, I've read all the books and would love to see some things from them transfered into Halo 3, however, im also aware of all the people out there complaining because they dont want to be confused because elements from the book come into play and they haven't read them. But you guys all need to relax, i dont know if you notice, but there were things from the books put into Halo 2, and I'll bet that stuff didn't confuse you. Like what you ask? Well how about the MAC guns, or the ODST helljumpers? Or even how Sargent Johnson is still alive and made it off the first Halo? Bungie are VERY good at telling stories, I am convinced that they will be able to satisfy both the book readers and those who have just played the games when they add new elements (personally i dont even care if other spartans are actually in Halo 3, just explain what happened to them after First Strike)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.” – Psalms 46:1-3

The books are canon to the Halo storyline. That doesn't mean they will be implemented into halo 3, simply because everyone hasn't read the books. All the people who like the games but haven't read the books would be screwed over storyline-wise. It just won't work.

You guys are using the wrong types of examples, these things you're talking about don't need to be explained, well, the Mac gun is simple, so are the Brutes. To introduce everything from the books is much much much more complicated, such as the other Spartans and Dr. Hasley, and Colonel Ackerson.

And if you think that Bungie are master storytellers, they won't just make a cutscene that lasts about 20 minutes that explains several things. But that's what most people are trying to figure out. How to explain it in a non confusing way, my answer is that they won't do it at all.

The books and the games have many correlations, but they are NOT completely the same. It's all left up to the artistic licensing of the writer and the game developers to decide what will relate and what will be solely unique to the book or game. Same thing goes for movies, and the Halo movie in particular.

So to recap: Books are not games, games are not books, books are not movies, movies are not games and visa versa, etc., etc. If they were all the same it'd be boring and there'd be little to no artistry behind making them because they'd be exactly the same.

Drones aren't mentioned in First Strike. As for including more Spartans, you don't need a long cut scene to explain it...

Planet Earth, Year 2552, Covenant Invasion

Some Marine Guy "Sir! We're getting some reinforcements!"

Officer of Higher Rank "You see. I told you they wouldn't forget about us."

Master Cheif "Who are they?"

Some Marine Guy "You won't believe this!"

Master Cheif "Try me..."

Some Marine Guy "It's more Spartans!"

Officer of Higher Rank "Wha?! Repeat that last remark marine."

Master Cheif "He's right...Look."

Done (of course BUNGiE will do a good job...I have no literary skills)

These characters were introduced in First Strike and included in Halo 2:

Lord Hood
Fleet Admiral Harper
The Prophet of Truth and the Covenant High Council
The Arbiter
Tartarus

If they can explain that within the start of Halo 2, and introduce Commander Miranda Keyes at the same time, they can surely introduce all of the Spartans.

A lot of characters are introduced fully in the final chapter of any trilogy in popular culture (example: Star Wars - Jabba and the Emperor, along with their cronies). If they can do it, Bungie can as well.

Aside from the fact that they would have to introduce only five more characters (they could easily cut out the Ackerson stuff, even though there is theorized evidence of it).

By the way, if you look on the Pillar of Autumn into the top side Spartan control rooms where you fight in Halo CE... there is a second room with a darkened cryotube and flat-lined vitals, which perfectly lines up with Linda-058's situation in the Fall of Reach. So you could say she was already there...
