I was going through the forums today and I got to thinking about the whole human=forerunner debate and I came up with a theory that I haven't seen before. Ok so first I was thinking about how the halos destroy all sentient life with sufficient biomass to sustain the flood and then I started thinking about how humans could have survived the blast and whether or not we are descendants of the forerunners. Then I came up with this idea. What if the forerunners knowing that they would have to set off the halos started a project to keep life going afterwards by taking DNA samples from all of the ancient sentient races and took them to different hospitable planets and then put them in a cloning machine set to go off autamatically at a later time? After this they set off all of the halos destroying themselves and all other races and hoping to stop the flood. Later, whether it be months or years, the cloning machines activate, re-creating the ancient races, but they have to go through the whole technical evolution process again. So this would explain how humans could possibly be forerunners and why the covenant dont recognize us and why we aren't at the same technical level as the ancient races. It would also justify 343's statement of all of his creators and all sentient life dying as planned.
It was simply a thought that I haven't seen before. Sorry if I ripped off anyones idea. Please respond and leave your thoughts.
