I think a cool idea for Halo 3 would be to have an option for the display to be left handed or right handed. Meaning, if you're right handed, you can have it normal, but for leftys, you can also set it so the gun is on the left side, and you operate as though your Spartan or Elite were left handed. I think it would be good. Easier for left handed people. I'm not, but I was just lookin' out.

Nothing personal...

I don't think it matters too much. I'm left-handed and I'm fine with the controls and right-sided gun display. Plus I don't think it takes much coordination to use your off-hand for playing Halo.

Still, it would be kinda neat.

Does it really matter? I mean, sure ok so they put it in there what would it do? Put his motion tracker on the right? I don't see much point to it.

that which is not dead can eternal lie, but with strange aeons even death may die.

Im lefty but I kill just fine using the right...

2B || !2B - Why don't you look Inside the Machine?

I don't think that it is a bad idea...but whether Bungie considers it..not sure. But I am sure a lot of lefties would be happy.

Thanks for looking out for us lefties, but I'm too used to FPS games having the gun on the right that it'd be too awkward to play with it on the left, for me at least.

Using the left hand would be good, if you were facing a certain direction and you needed to shoot. It's hard to explain, but it would help. Also, it would be more realistic; every character in the game (except Half Jaw in certain cutscenes) uses his or her right hand.

Why not have the option? It doesn't really matter if it's in or not, so why not just throw the option in if Bungie has some time to kill? It's not like being able to see one's legs was a great gameplay breakthrough, but it's still neat.

1. How could it cost them money?
2. I'm sure someone would use it. That's a pretty big generalization you made, there.

Do you really think that Bungie has budgetary worries? LOL. Microsoft would give Bungie Fort Knox if they asked for it.

M$ just lost about 24 million dollars worldwide and every company has budgetry problems M$ isnt just handing them big wads of cash to do whatever they want with.

They have much better uses for their money instead of something this useless.

Bring me some sources to back those statements up, especially the one where MS is frugal with Bungie. Do you know how much dough Bungie has made MS since the firse Halo? Why, now, would they be saying, "ehhh, we have to cut you back"? According to Wikipedia, MS is doing quite well.

And BTW, how much do you think it cost to build, skin, and test the visible legs in first person? I'm going to bet a hell of a lot more than what would be needed to flip the gun to the other side of a character model's body. Stop making it sould like Bungie is a wee little company that might not make it. I wouldn't be surprised if they receive more money than entire departments.

Yeah, I don't think it would cost much money to implement a feature so the gun's on the right or the left. It's not pointless. Some people could find it useful. It's like look inversion. Some could say it's useless, but I can't play without it!

Bungie isnt the only thing M$ has to pay for. As much money as Halo has made its only a fraction of what M$ makes then spends yearly. They Have Media Center developement costs Vista developement costs. Beta and Production of there new Handheld ZUME not to mention the miliions they hyave to pay their employees.
PLUS not to mention financing all other developers in M$ loop ie RARE.

What bungie has made is only like %15 percent of what M$ has to worry about financing

There are two serious downsides to this suggestion.

1.) Bullet casings would fly across the screen, causing a distraction that righties won't have to deal with.

2.) The Rocket Launcher (because of the reload) and the Brute Shot (because of the handle placement) can only be held on the right side.

Then they could have left handed weapons. A rocket launcher, which reverses the sides, same for the brute shot.

What's the point? You look at the cross-hair, not the gun.

How would that work out in the game? Have the weapon magically be lefty friendly when he picks it up? Or that a person is limited to certain weapons because he's a lefty (i.e. can only pick up a lefty RL).

This is a case of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I've never heard the excuse: "I can't play well because the weapon isn't on the left side."

No, I mean having a left hand and a right hand version of guns. And "If it ain't broke, you ain't trying."

So what you're saying is, I finally kill the guy (a lefty) who had a RL, now I can't us it because I'm not a Lefty? If I finally kill the bastard, I want to reap the rewards. And "If it ain't broke, you ain't trying." I honestly don't really know what to make of this quote. If somethings fine, I'm not going to try and break it.

Only around 13% of people are left handed. Of those, there's no telling how many people would actually use the option. Take a look at the Race gametype. Some people played it in Halo, but no enough to warrant the time spent to code it into Halo 2. In my opinion, it's not worth the time putting in an option that only a few people would use. Time that could be well spent on other aspects of the game.

Overall, your suggestion has more complications than it does actual benefits
