im left handed and i find the always right handed charachter annoying. the controls would have to be the same im too used to pulling the right trigger. i still want to see it on the left side.

I guess you could also choose if your character if left or right handed, just for cosmetic effect.

No, I mean having a left hand and a right hand version of guns.
So what you're saying is, I finally kill the guy (a lefty) who had a RL, now I can't us it because I'm not a Lefty? If I finally kill the bastard, I want to reap the rewards. And "If it ain't broke, you ain't trying." I honestly don't really know what to make of this quote. If somethings fine, I'm not going to try and break it.

Only around 13% of people are left handed. Of those, there's no telling how many people would actually use the option. Take a look at the Race gametype. Some people played it in Halo, but no enough to warrant the time spent to code it into Halo 2. In my opinion, it's not worth the time putting in an option that only a few people would use. Time that could be well spent on other aspects of the game.

Overall, your suggestion has more complications than it does actual benefits

It could convert to a right handed! Okay, how about there's one type, and when a lefty picks it up, it's left handed, when a righty picks it up, it's right handed, okay?

And "If it ain't broke, you ain't trying" is from Red Green.

It doesn't really affect me, so I wouldn't object to it, but I suppose the fact that MC has always been right handed - well, let's just say I could see it becoming an issue with the hardcore.

I'm a lefty and can honestly say I couldn't care less. I wouldn't want Bungie to waste their time so that about 5% of the market can feel specially catered for - despite the fact that they wouldn't really give a damn either way.

How in the world would it affect the game? It's not like you're playing paintball and you're the one holding the gun or something! And "using your off-hand for playing halo"? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard... 2 of my friends are lefties and they play just as good as if not better than me.
Your Idea would just be a waste of precious 360 processing power...

Well, the change is indeed cosmetic, but despite remaining fairly objective in the debate, I have to say, I don't think implementing a left handed stance is going to use much processing power. It won't affect speed or graphics, it's just a case of reversing the animation. A minimal alteration.

Ok first of all this won't happen if Bungie uses real Army training in Halo 3 as they used real Marine training in Halo 2. Reason being the Army trains you to use your weapon right handed not left. Nearly every weapon made and used by nearly every country has the brass leave the rifle from the right side. As mentioned earlier the brass would affect the vision of the player if it left the rifle from the right side and the rifle was on the players left shoulder. Sure you can change the direction the brass leaves the rifle but that would mean making every weapon useable by a left-handed player and this would cost money and take time.

Well if that did have it to where it was for left handed people than they would have to pull the left trigger to fire!! But I dont think people really care.

I think that they should have left handed weapons. It helps the lefthanded players more. Could you imagine if you had to play from the lefthanded perspective? Your aim would be horrible. The only other game I saw do that was counter strike, and thats the most popular online shooting game in the world

How would one's aim be horrible? It's purely cosmetic. The guns would still shoot in the same spot.

The best way to implement it would putting the gun on the left side when "Southpaw" is selected.

M$ just lost about 24 million dollars worldwide and every company has budgetry problems M$ isnt just handing them big wads of cash to do whatever they want with.

They have much better uses for their money instead of something this useless.

Bring me some sources to back those statements up, especially the one where MS is frugal with Bungie. Do you know how much dough Bungie has made MS since the firse Halo? Why, now, would they be saying, "ehhh, we have to cut you back"? According to Wikipedia, MS is doing quite well.

And BTW, how much do you think it cost to build, skin, and test the visible legs in first person? I'm going to bet a hell of a lot more than what would be needed to flip the gun to the other side of a character model's body. Stop making it sould like Bungie is a wee little company that might not make it. I wouldn't be surprised if they receive more money than entire departments.

Bungie isnt the only thing M$ has to pay for. As much money as Halo has made its only a fraction of what M$ makes then spends yearly. They Have Media Center developement costs Vista developement costs. Beta and Production of there new Handheld ZUME not to mention the miliions they hyave to pay their employees.
PLUS not to mention financing all other developers in M$ loop ie RARE.

What bungie has made is only like %15 percent of what M$ has to worry about financing

Thank you, Captain Obvious. Again, you ignored the main part of my post, which is that Bungie is not so small they will have to worry they'll break the budget if they put in small features, while certain things that are even less useful and more expensive (like the visible legs and fully modelled,quasi-unique objects outside of normal map barriers such as trees and buildings) are in. Not to mention the general high production values. Bungie is a big company. They make lots of cash. Bungie will get a lot of cash from the big dawg, because Bungie is a big breadwinner.

And BTW, 15% of the companies total finances (I doubt that that is true, though. Where are you getting these figures?) is still a hell of a lot from one game developer.

To differentiate yourself, make the "fire/grenade/second weapon" triggers like up with the character models, and just 'cause. Not everything needs a solid, practical reason.

Do you even know what an off-hand is? If your friends are left-handed, then their right hand is their off-hand. And I guess you didn't understand my post at all- I said it didn't take much coordination, so that means it can easily be done with the hand you do not use.

A few shooters have had a button in game to change from left to right hand, and I would like to see that included.. Quick switching for shooting around cover.

i don't think this is a bad idea, maybe a button or direction on the d-pad to change weapon/grenade hands. here's a scenario, try if you wish:

position yourself faceing a wall that you can see out from both the left and right sides.

position the cross-hair on the left edge of the wall so you can just see out in front of you. now throw a grenade - the grenade will clear the edge of the wall and explode in front of you.

now postion the cross-hair on the right edge of the wall and throw a grenade - the grenade will bounce of the wall and explode behind you.

changing weapon hands could be useful for weapons also, maybe to stop blowing yourself up with a rocket!!!

just a thought but how many people throw with their left hand anyway?
