In the past I never gave any thoughts as to what I was eating. If it was "edible", I hardly ever discriminated against any foods, be it a stalk of celery or a quadruple cheeseburger with extra mayonaise, four slices of cheese and a bucket of french fries. Ever since I started having GI problems though, I started thinking. Americans eat a lot of crap. By crap I mean unknown preservatives, excessive fat, fast food, and anything that falls into the convenience category. The best examples I can think of are donuts and Oreos. I used to love donuts. Hell, they still are one of the best tasting sweet snacks out there, yet they are nothing but deep fried dough with tons of sugar. Diabetes anyone? And Oreos. I wish they would never have been ruined for me. Once upon a time I was ignorant to the fact the cream filling was just lard and sugar. Bleh.
