Blood Gultch, King of The Hill, stationary Hill. With 4 players, its absolute chaos, awsome fun. Vehicles collect around the hill, creating a maelstrom of condensed carnage. With vehicle damage, this simply wont happen. Unless somebody can actually tell me the dynamics of the vehicle respawn system. In every single hands-on, they spend ages explaining obvious things, but an integral feature that is fundamental in Halo multiplayer, they only describe breifly.

Does anyone know any indepth information regarding how vehicle damage is handled in terms of respawning. Im all for new forms of gameplay, but sacrificing the most fun element of multiplayer to me is a big damn sacrifice.

Im just concerned that with all the focus on fast, furious LIVE online play, the fun of having vehicles scattered around the battlefield will be lost. My major concern in this area is the fact that you can apparently destroy vehicles even if nobody is in them. In levels like Sidewinder and Gultch, this would basically render vehicles pretty much uselss. See a friend going for the ghost? shoot the crap out of it, so even if you dont destroy it before he gets in, its pretty much a garauntee that you will almost insantly after he does.

Having to trudge back to the place where vehicles respawn will also be a pain in big levels. Now I know Bungie will balance this, but im concerned that there balancing will result in even more sacrifices.

For online 8v8 player matches its not really a concern. But for splitscreen 2-4 player battles, destroying vehicles will become a frustrating element, after the intial wow factor has worn off.

Nobody knows a lot about this yet; but count on it all to "work out" when the game finally ships

Look for multiplayer options to be customizable out the yang too; that's Bungie's style of course

They simply reappear after being destoyed (like the spartans/covenant) in their respawn point. I wish to know how long the wrekage stays, as it would be annoyin if you were using it for cover and it just dissapeared

The thing is, with all the articles, nobody has bothered to explain this. Its annoying.

I agree. I bet Bungie will give the option on how long the respawn will be (30sec, 1min, 5min, etc.)

respawning would look off. Seeing debre just warp out of there. The thing is, Zanzabar CTF assault is a map that it would suit, but what about king of the hill and 50 kill deathmatches on large levels? You have to keep running back to the vehicle respawn point. Or people would just hang around the respawn point, shoot up vehicles, so that if someone gets in, they can blow it up really easily. I just wouldn't bother with vehicles. Maybe on LIVE, but 2-4 play splitscreen, it would be awful.

OH! I meant the vehicles will respawn not the broken parts! I think they will stay behind for quite awhile then when the map gets alittle bit crowded the older pieces go away.
I agree with you on the vehicle placement, they need to get creative on that one! they have more than enough time!

Bungie knows what we want more then what we know about are wants, so you want destructible vehicles.

Yes, I'd love destructable vehicles. But the thing is, about 70% of the fun I have with multiplayer is vehicles, as they are. There was nothing wrong with indestructable vehicles, and the possibility that they might not be in multiplayer is scary.

Clan O7AH

One thing I would try to keep in mind is that in most of the updates that we (halo community) have got about vehicles and weapons bungie says that one of their main goals was to kep things balanced so try to remember that. Also, in Halo 1 there were a lot of customizable things for multiplayer, so I would hope that we would be able to mearly turn off the vehicle respawn so that they would either be gone for the remainder of the round which I doubt, or that mabie they respawn in the place where they destructed unless that place was off a cliff then it would respawn in its starting point like in Halo 1 when you throw the oddball in to the abyss. I am just speculating but hopefuly this helped.

I see where you're coming from Prohass, but I think there's a reason that none of the articles have discussed this; it's not an issue. You could make the argument that it's only the level that allows it to work, but have you seen the other levels? Do you KNOW that it won't work on them too? My point is that you haven't played the game, so gripping about a gameplay feature you've never used, doesn't really make sense. Like I said, I see where you're coming from, and it kinda worries me too. But as I say in every thread of this ilk I come upon, Bungie isn't dumb, they will have everything they way they think is best, or they won't release it. It's that simple, it won't come out until it's done. And I have faith that when it's done, it will only be because it's awesome; it's the Bungie way.

I can see the points made here. I honestly hope though that Bungie give us the option to turn damage of the vehicles off and to set the respawn time of them if we destruction of them on.
