I think it would be cool to be a grunt but what of there small size?

What if every character had it's own unique skills and abilities? (for example the brute could go into berzerk mode while the elite could have a short burst of camo)

Maybe make a new version of slayer where each character started off with the weapons that suit there character skin

Elite = Plasma sword

Chief = B-rifle or dual smg

Jackal = Jackal shield + plasma pistol

Grunt = needler or Plasma pistol

Brute = Brute shot

Drone = Needler

Halo is not an RPG. The characters should not have different abilities. There shouldn't BE any other characters except for Spartans and Elites.

Ah, look at the lonely people...

1. Halo 1-style SPARTAN
2. Halo 2-style SPARTAN
3. Halo 3-style SPARTAN (if he gets new armor, that is)
4. Elite
5. Heretic Elite
6. Honor Guard Elite

I think 6 would be enough. There's probably a few others that they could tweak into gameplay as well.

I dont want it to just be Spartans and Elites, get some god damn diversity.

  • 07.26.2006 7:54 PM PDT

No, there will be no other characters, END OF STORY!!!!!!! Forget it, Bungie will not do, and for good reason.

Your mother is so fat, she tried to jump through Halo and got stuck.

Go check out ma file share. plz? lol

Dammit Jim, where's the Heretic? I think it would be cool to play as a Heretic. maybe in multiplayer. See, now Ima have to go start a thread about playing as a Heretic in Campaign.

I think the different style of spartan/elites is a good idea. All of the other things? we dont need them.

Imagine using a brute.. he'd be all agile and would have a long ranged melee attack.

  • 07.26.2006 7:59 PM PDT

Dude, no, i know what it would be like using a brute. Do you know what would happen? BAM!!!! 1 shot headshot kill from a spartan.

Halo is a run-and-gun shooter, character skills do not exist. only player skill. that is how it it that is how it should be.

That being said it would be nice to have mutiple skins in mutiplayer. the only problem is that gameplay balance between that many types would be imposibe.
here is a list of skins that would work. they would be exactly the same, the only thing that would be differant would be aperance.
Spartian
Elite
Flood combat form.

now into unrealistic.
I personlay would like to see the option of having addtionial charater types namely grunt, brute, marine, and hunter. the only problem is as stated before, balance.
none of these have shields, thus any one who play's as them would be at a huge disadvantage, but giving them "special ablititys" would ruin Halo.
still it would be nice to see them for machinema.

If you noticed Halo 2 and Halo 3 have the same Spartan Armor. MC isn't gonna switch armor in one level. Switch Halo 1 and Halo 3 Spartans with Grunts and Jackalss

How about completely different gametypes that will only have one type of character, and they WILL have special abilities?

Who cares if there at a disadvantage. It's there fault for choosing them. These should be Usable characters

Halo 2/3 MC
Elites including Honor Guards
Flood Combat Forms Elite or Human
Grunts
Jackals
Hunters

All would be fair except for te Hunters...right? No everything would be fair.

Spartans...Fair
Elites...Fair
Flood...Unfair, no shields, But they can jump and lunge and have really good melee attacks
Grunts...Unfair, no shields, But they're small, hard to hit and can run fast.
Jackal...Fair
Hunters...Unfair, near impossible to kill but are slow...ver very very slow

Ah, but theres the problem, you've given them "specal abilitys" that would not work in halo.
If they were to apper they would all have to be roughly the same, with the exeption of brutes, marines, grunts hunters ect. who have no shields. same movent same health. armor plates on the hunters would have to be ignored. and brutes would not have any specal melees.

If the flood were to appear as a playable skin they would have to be like the spartain or elites, no super jump, no damage resitance, no uber-melee. but they would have shields.

i beleive there should maybe be in online as playabe characters :
1. Arbiter/Elite
2Chief/Old Armor/New Armor/
3.Hunter(with specific abilities)
4.Grunt(with specific abilities)
5.Sgt. Jhonson(with a sniper)

I like the hunter very much he is my favorite character, i dont think anyone should hate him outside of MP but in it i can reason with you if oyu hate him but i think they should put the 5 i listed inas chooseale cahracters and have abilities for each. Like the hunter be a Jug. with slow, ex. dmg., dmg. res., and the B buton his big swing like a sword and his fuel rod with the rigth trigger and it has limited ammo of course. now feel free to agree or disagree with that.

You people don't seem to understand the concept of balance. The models have to be exactly the same, but just look different. If you've got a spartan with an SMG going up against a hunter with a FRG, who's gonna win? You know it. The only suitable models (shields, size, ect...) are...

* MJOLNIR Mk. 5 (Halo 1 SPARTAN)
* MJOLNIR Mk. 6 (Halo 2 SPARTAN)
* MJOLNIR Mk. 7 (Halo 3 SPARTAN, maybe)
* Regular Elite
* Heretic Elite
* Honor Guard Elite
* Arbiter

No one say combat form, either, because they're headshot zones are different.

In my mind the only models that would work are the Halo 1 spartan, halo 2/3 spartan, elite and heretic elite. These would have minimal if any balance issues and would be the easisest and most realistic to incorporate. Although having models specifically for machinima. (did i spell that right?) would be worthwhile and useful to the halo community.

Ok, the only acceptable character models would be:
1. Spartans (Halo1, Halo2, and if you really want different gloves, Halo3 variants of the MJOLNIR)
2. Elites ("Standard", Arbiter, Honor Guard, Heretic, Ranger variants)
3. Flood Elites.

The spartan models, everyone should understand. The Elites are slightly trickier. All elite variants have the same areas where damage can be inflicted. This means all ornamental armor like the orange pieces that the honor guards have can be shot and the player recives no damage. Also ranger variants have their flight ability diabled. The flood elites have equal damage tolerances to that of spartans and elites. The have no "special abilities" and a possible remedy for the headshot problem would be the floods natural weakness. This is the area when the infection form's feelers/appendages stick out. When shot it behaves similar to that of a spartans or elites head in terms of damage.

Any other models are:
Impractical
At an immediate disadvantage due to lack of sheilds
Something bungie will stray away from because it takes away from what Halo is about and because they are smart.

The combat form headshot zones are different, they're not at the very top of the model. Not to mention the fact that they're hard to pick out, even if you do know where they are. I reiterate, the only useable models are the Halo 1/2/3(?) SPARTAN and the Regular/Heretic/honor guard/arbiter elite.

I think the diferance in weakpoint zones would and a little spice to the game. think before you fire.

Very Bitter

A flood-infected spartan. Its perfectly matched with the other two.
