I have realized that there is only one way that the trailer i saw. or the end of the universe, was being shown, and that is because its not being activated yet!!! Its a flashback from Cortana and what she has learned from the Previous Halos and that is the story of what happened to the forerunners. This shows us why 343 kept saying what he did and brings the plot twist that bungie was goin to bring to all game fans...Tell me what you think but this is a very reasonable solution to why we are seeing the ark activated...

Are you sure i mean people from Gamestop and other places have said the same and if the trailer shows 1/3 or 2/3 the way then....what are we seeing? Maybe a flashback maybe a cancelation of the standby mode...

HIGHLY POSSIBLE

hi

i wouldnt listen to that Nsane guy he disagrees with everything. I think you have a pretty good theory. that would explain MC watching the Arc activate unless it wasnt being activated then.

Bungie have said that the structure in that trailer is not the Ark. So his whole theory is meaningless

When the heck did they say that??

Anyway.. ignoring that post... perhaps it is only sending a message to all the Halos.. to put them on standby mode.

I was pretty sure they said it wasn't the Ark in one of their weekly updates FAQ sections. But I have to agree, the chance it is a flashback is very thin and it is simply a signal being sent out.

EDIT: Ok this is what that FAQ said:

' What was that crazy huge dome buried under Earth?

We're not saying, but Halo fans may recognize something about its design. '

So yes, I was wrong about the denial of the Ark, but they said that we may recognise something about the design and we haven't seen the Ark before,

I think they said that observant fans should know what the structure is.

An observant fan yes, but why would it be something to blatantly obvious as the Ark? I think that it may be an installation connected to the Ark, but not the exact location. But then again, that's just my opinion and with my mistake on the FAQ I guess his opinion is still plausible.

Well the thing most people recognize about it is the link with the Forerunner ship that the Chief rides in towards Earth. It could just be a small part of a bigger installation.. or maybe just something totally different... or maybe its a Halo
underneath the Earth's crust *rolls eyes*

And some people may not realise that Bungie could have been purposely misleading by making us assume the easiest answer is that Earth is the Ark. It could simply just be another installation leading to a Ark itself.

I am...whimsical today.

I thought they were just commenting on the similarity between it and other Forerunner structures. The teaser cannot be a flashback to an earlier activation. The wreckage behind the MC is the Orbital Tether from New Mombasa, the Covenant ships are present, and there is a ruined city in the background. It is a little distant, but to me it looks much like an Earth city.

The trailer is a teaser and May or may not have anything to do with the final game. It's an announcement trailer. I think it may be a level in the game though. But thats only my opinion. It's possible man, but also highly unlikely. It is pointless to try and figure out what bungie is planning for the final game. Not to mention ridiculous.

Why would there be Covenant if that was the first activation of Halo? Covenant didn't form til after seeing as if they had been around before they would have been obliderated.

A) It's a trailer.
B) Who said the Ark was activating the rings? It could be doing something else.
C) Even if it IS preparing to blast, we've already seen a Halo nearly fire and it made pretty lights too but was aborted. I still think it's doing something else, though - if that scene is even in the finished game AT ALL.

Oh and on another note, that was New Mombasa. Remember the city that got hit by the Covenant with the 15 capital ships at the beginning of Halo (Regret's convoy, they were looking for the Ark, they had no idea it was on Earth which just so happened to be their enemies homeworld). Thats the city in the trailer, that city wouldn't have existed because again: Humans didn't exist pre-Halo fire. You should also consider the city is all beat up... from what happened in Halo 2. It's not a flashback.

Why would the master chief be there if it was a flashback? This theory has too many holes. She wouldn't be so fragmented. Nothing like this has ever happened before. The chief and Cortana are seperated.

ok maybe but its only a theory....also i wanted to add but cant now that maybe the ark is not being activated, but rather that the heretics and MC have canceled the activation. I mean look at how they get so close to him and whiz by...why is that?

The Heretics have nothing to do with the story anymore.

If you spent your whole life, no, the percieved meaning of your existence, and saw the fruits of your labor in front of you, wouldn't you be more concerned about it instead of the lone enemy on the ground?

Remember- Earth has lost the war. The covenant control it now. They are the ones in the ships, not MC's allies.
