Now, recently about the forums I have seen in threads unlawful language. These words I have found tend to come from the moderators themselves. Words such as "bastard"(I didn't like typing that but it's the only way I could think of getting my point across) have been used in these posts. Now, I'm not going to mention names or point the finger at anyone. But I sometimes wonder how these people got chosen to moderate a forum when they post curse words themselves. Maybe they curse like that "out and about" so to speak, while not moderating the forums, but is it really necessary to act like that while on the forums? To be honest, I don't think the moderators are setting a good example to the Bungie community, and are only encouraging them to follow suit by using the same language. Again, I'm not mentioning names, I'm just saying that I think the language could be a lot less strong, and, could possibly benefit the community itself by discarding this sort of language. Not everyone on this forum I'm sure is over 21(I myself am only 16) and so I feel the language needs to be toned down, and a lot less, as I said, strong. Thank-you.

its like a large force of win going through fusion, thus creating a chain reaction of a huge asplosion of win destroying any fail within its awesomeness.

Yes, language may need to be toned down, but if it's not -blam!-ed, then it should be allowed...but as long as their not by-passing the -blam!- filter, it should be fine.

You mean, language that has been deemed acceptable by Achronos himself? I see no reason why people can't swear on B.net

I would suggest taking a look at this thread.

Don't sweat it Flaming Rainbow- The moderators were chosen based on a rigorous selection process (involving a LOT of bananas), and are quite qualified for their esteemed positions. They are users just like us (with the exception of Frankie.....I'm still trying to figure out what he is) and get upset like us.

Yesterday, Achronos said that sometimes it's ok to cuss to get your point across, as long as your doing it controlled. I don't curse on this site, but as long as people aren't going overboard, I suppose it's ok. We're all mature here, moderators included of course :-)

I think that's why he made this post. It is the exact opposite idea of that thread.

Well, if it's any of the new moderators, I'm sure they're just adapting to their mod life.

But the moderators on this website tend to be very playful, and don't mean what they say when they're playing around, of course, if it has something to do with a rule violator. And if any moderator did say something to a member, like "bastard," more than likely they don't mean it. As I said, they're very playful here.

I beleive he's referring to my post here. Personally, I don't think bastard is a curse anyway...

Hey...bastard!

I wish all the moderators were mindless robots, too. Then I can sit on my ass, scratch my nuts, and not have to ever worry about being offended by somebody that I'll never meet.

we love you too, impy.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

This is a community for a developer which makes M games. While obviously pr0n and the more excessive four letter words should be blocked, I don't see anything wrong with the occasional use of words which are not caught by the blam filter. You can hear far, far worse on TV, and worse is used in Bungie's own games (The marines use the word for a female dog, which is blammed on here). I usually avoid swearing, but I don't see why it is a big deal as long as there is no evasion of the blam filter and it's not ridiculously excessive.

And it's not like anyone is seriously calling members bastards (which would be a problem).

I don't see the issue. I mean, yes, kids are allowed to go on the site even though the game is rated M, but the idea is that children who go to a site for a game that they're parents should be well aware of the rating should at least be with their kids both during gameplay and while online here, at bnet. Sure, they can't monitor everything, but i know i wouldn't let my 9 year old brother on this site.

I mean, he's too lazy to type or read anyways, but if he weren't, i'd not let him.

Not because the language or content, but because it isn't something that is meant for his age group. Alot of the discussion is about things he couldn't understand or relate to. He's simply too young. I think the age for starters should be about 13 on bnet, but once again, its not our call. It should be the call of the parents, because they have the most influence over their child (or at least should).

You really don't get how much flavor a good "bastard" or other "-blam!-"s can add to a post. :p I see nothing wrong with it as long as people don't abuse it.. (which is exactly why we can't say alot of things here that should be unblammed)

indeed, Bastard is the funniest curse word there is. It's great, because few other conversation go like this

poster #1-You bastard!
-poster #2-You're right, I am a Bastard, I have never known my father.

I mean, you can't insult someone by going...
Poster #1-You Lukemia Patient!!!1
Poster#2-YOu're right, I am.

That would be mean, and poor Poster#1 would be scarred for life, and mocked and looked down upon by the lowliest of forum goers.

aye, but it is probably the only swear word that isn't a euphimisim. all other swear words are based off really things, sex, feces, etc. But there really isn't another word for a person who doesn't know their father. And It's just so funny when Impurity types it, I don't know why, but it is.
