How far do you think the MC is willing to go to stop the flood. The Cheif is the last hope for humanity, but what if he isn't able to stop the flood from spreading through earth, and the rest of the galaxy. Do you think the MC would activate the rings if he had to? Granted, it's far-fetched and a lot of things would have to happen for this ending, but go with me on this, I think this would be an interesting twist/dillema. What if there is no other way, the Arbiter wants to fire the rings(if they're together of course), the Chief wants to hold out for some other option(a vaccine, or something else that neutralizes the flood). Even if you took down the Arbiter, there is no guarantee of a hail mary coming through in the end, so if he had too....does the MC activate the rings, and wipe out everything he was fighting for to stop the flood?

John will carry out his mission. What is his mission? To save humanity. What would activating the rings do? Cause him to lose. John doesn't lose.

Let's hope he doesn't lose.

If he really wanted to, the Master Chief could destroy humanity. I don't think he wants to though. If it's just me, I'll shut up.

I don't really see the point of killing all the flood in such a way, since it only destroys the ones they're trying to save.

It seems unlikely I know, but the Forerunners with much more advanced tech couldn't create something to neutralize the Flood, so it seems unlikely that humanity would be able too. History repeating itself is not unheard of, and seems plausible when dealing with the flood. Maybe the Ark is the Alamo of the future?

No. the spartian's loyalty to the UNSC is absolute. He will not even consider such an action.

If a sentinel beam really killed the flood, then why would the forerunners have activated halos killing themselves.

I dont think the chief will destroy humanity. If anything i think that he will sacrifice himself to save humanity.

  • 07.27.2006 1:12 PM PDT

A witty signature.

The Chief could wipe out humanity. So could cancer.

You probably won't get my point.

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

That would be an amazing twist, if Spartan 117 activated the rings to save the galaxy from becoming a mindless flood hive...it would bring things full circle. But, I doubt this will ever happen...though Bungie did say this would be a darker game....I eagerly await answers and Halo 3.

But what would you do if humanity and the rest of the galaxy was doomed to become members of the flood hive? Would you let them be consumed and allow the Flood to gain more power and rule over the galaxy forever? Or would you halt the flood advance by destroying life itself, freezing the flood. Although you have destroyed life for a few hundred thousand years, you have saved life for all eternity.

John doesn't always win. In Halo: The Fall of Reach, at the start during training when he was 6 or so, he left his teammates behind so he could ring the bell first. But, it was a team challenge. Therefore he lost.

hi

any way we go about MC really does wipe out civilization its a lose-lose situation. if he doesnt blow them up they take over. if he does we die. unless he can kill the flood by himself

I'm really quite interested in what they come up with to deal with the flood, maybe something with Sgt. Johnson's disease/blood that can vacinate people against being taken over by the flood. Whatever it is, I hope it's something that's unexpected, yet is still beleivable.
