While I commend you for a unique theory, I have to say I think it's probably the most far fetched one I've ever heard.
The Elites HAVE a history, read the books. It does not involve being a Forerunner and somehow surviving the Halos. They were actually at war with the prophets pre-formation of the Covenant.
As per the Human = Forerunner crap... Come on folks. The Forerunners were the most technologically advanced race thus far. Let us just take a moment and consider that a race that advanced would have means of history documentation a little bit better than something that could be lost and forgotten. And then, for no apparent reason, no one passes the knowledge down to their children for generation after generation, forget all about their technology, and devolve into the original humans and start making their way back up the technological food chain again until the jump drive is reinvented? Cmon, that'd just be rediculous. A civilization that advanced is not capable of forgetting that theyre THAT advanced and no catostrophe could ever create that either. I'm not saying humans couldn't be in some relation to the original forerunners - or even from the same planet (earth), but there would need to be a very good reason that a civilization forgot and started from scratch, it wouldn't be we humans in our current stage of evolution.
Anywho, back to the elite thing. They have their own history and gravemind looks nothing like an elite to me. We've seen flood elite forms, they wern't graveminds. Tasty theory, but far-fetched.
