Individuals are only pieces. Its when everyone comes together and makes the community that we all know and love. I vote everyone.
Well then. Let's go from one spectrum to the other shall we? I'm always hearing about "the community" and "the people". People always say they are doing things for them, and that they want to help them. Heh. A bit of a surprise here; oftentimes the ones that say they are working for the community will find that the community is not working for them.
Not acknowledging that most people are by their nature selfish and greedy will only get you disappointed.
Sure, there are members of this forum that I consider friends. People that enrich these forums immeasurably. I respect these people in a way that I can't describe in words. But labeling everyone as "community" is only a more subtle form of stereotyping. Not acknowledging the ones that stand out while uplifting the ones that honestly couldn't give a damn about anyone but themselves isn't going to help anything.
I don't like to put people in groups and assign generalized labels; a "community" is still made up of individuals. Usefull and useless individuals, at that. Not one or the other. Contrary to popular beleif, not everyone likes to sit around a fire at night and sing koom-bay-ah. There's always the ones who shuffle their feet, or are busy throwing OFF bug spray cans into the campfire.
Sure, I won't get that fuzzy feeling inside that I've just said something motivational. But, at least there's that cold icy reassuring feeling in me that knows I just told the truth. Something most people, sadly, don't have the pleasure of experiencing.
But we are a group. It is a stereotype. We are all fans of halo, and that's a stereotype, if you like to believe so.
People, in general, are perfectly good. Groups of them tend to make issues when mob rule comes into existence, but not so with the bungie community. Thus, the greatness.
And thus, i stick to my original answer. Finding groups of people who remain responsible as individuals while in large groups of people are...blessed, if you would.
