I was thinking (like all humans do) about the possibility of an assassination gametype. Here's my idea.

Assassination
Suitable Number of Players: 8-32

The primary objective for each team would be to defend a leader (such as a Prophet, General, or Admiral) and prevent him or her from being killed in action while killing the other leader.

I think that it would work like the options for capture the flag with an offensive/defensive variation and use similar options from oddball to add more leaders. One could also select if the leaders were shielded or unshielded, armed or unarmed, and what type of weapon they could carry (example: the Prophets could use their hovering throne while the human leadership can use anything but the rocket launcher and fuel rod cannon).

The basic premise behind this is that the leader must be hunted down and killed, yet he or she must also be under constant guard (for this reason, indicators that indicate where he or she is are not allowed). For an example such as this, the leader may attach him or herself to the highest ranked player on the team or a random individual. When that player dies, the leader will follow another player of that team for protection until the victory conditions are met or that player is killed.

It is entirely plausible and can be a lot of fun if implemented correctly. Post your ideas and thoughts here.

The problem to me is how are you suppossed to kill them, I mean, it's easy enough to just get somwehre up high really fast, and then shoot the dude down, from a sniper position.

But it sounds cool, but sort of like something you make yourself, using the honor system or whatever.

I dunno, methinks that there are many many kinks to work out.

And also, I think a way to make this work, is that the teams should be staggered, are they staggered?

But the teams would always be split up so that the guards would double the Assasinators or something.

But the other thing, is that the leader should be under disguise, and it would just be a normal battle, and you have to keep killing the other players, trying to find the leader, and the other team could spread out, and have a plan for the leader, to hide somewhere.

So you could implement many strategies, but again, this sounds like something that you don't need a specific , um, section , just like a gametype that you can make yourself.

Well, the leader would not be helpless, so I am not sure.

The sniper position problem would be sorted out by teamwork, but due to the fact that the sniper rifle is rare, he may be able to use it against a would-be assassin in any case.

EDIT: The problem with disguising the leader is that he or she would be impossible to identify. They could just add an advanced AI in that adapts to each situation.
