Subject: The Successor to Vista, "Vienna"

Halo 1 > Halo 2
PC > Xbox

So that means Halo PC freakin pwns.
Its basic logic, even an xboxer could understand it (mmmm, maybe thats asking a little too much)

M$ is looking ahead of Vista because it's thinking quite differently.

Apparently, Vienna is designed to be sort of like how the GUI was to computers back in the mid 80's...revolutionary, completely radical, and different. I've been hearing sketchy details and reports about it, but as far as is confirmed, it's being made to rethink the way we interact with computers.

What this means can vary...it can mean anything from being able to address your computer and say "I wanna talk with so-and-so," and have the computer answer you, "sure thing, me15ter, let me set one up. Do you want to use AIM or MSN?" It can also, conversely, mean nothing more than a radically redesigned GUI. (As most rumors have it, the Start button is gonna be gone by this time.)

Oh, one final note. All this is hearsay and rumors. Microsoft has passed over it briefly once or twice, but nothing is confirmed. Second, there is actually an OS called Windows Fiji that's rumored to come between Vista and "Vienna." And finally, the first whispers about Vienna were heard around...1999. So you're a bit late to knowing about it. ;)

Planning ahead is always good. Don't get excited. They are so far away, and we know NOTHING AT ALL about them.

What? Play a game? FOR FUN???
This concept of fun confuses and infuriates me!

Don't worry. I just now found all that out by reading that.
One of my friends has a sweet OS called Windows Longhorn..
Its got the best things from a Windows OS, and the best things from a Mac. The theme is a macintosh style, but its on a PC, and runs all the PC games out yet. Its amazing. Oblivion looks kick ass, lemme tell you.. Halo looked great, but it got deleted due to the fact that its his brother's computer, and it was either Halo or Diablo 2.

and it was either Halo or Diablo 2.
Diablo 2 > Halo. (But barely.)

I just hope H3 PC ends up on Vista. We're already paying for an operating system that will probably average around $300 or so.

I don't think Windows Vienna will be a good name for Microsoft's post-Vista OS. When I think of Vienna I don't think of Vienna, Austria, I think of Vienna sausages, or Vienna roast.

No, Vienna is DEFINITELY not the name of the final product. They always come up with codenames for their OSs.

For those of us "in the know," let's see how many you can identify:

Janus, Chicago, Memphis, Whistler, Longhorn.

(Windows 3.1X, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows Vista)

Well in that case, Windows Vista must look exactly like a Mac, which will piss some Mac haters off.
I still can't understand why people hate Macs. Sure, lacking in games. Thats what a PC is for. But Macs are more for professional things like graphics, arts, ect. So they can't play games, big whoop. I still have my consoles. I play those plenty.
Sometimes I wish that the PC had games like Shadow the Hedgehog on it..

You're forgetting that Macs are hideously overpriced and if you want to upgrade, you have to go out and buy a whole new one.

Starcraft > Diablo.

I prefer PCs over Macs simply for their superior performance and graphics at cheaper prices.
