ok so this forum is for improvement ideas... i have a slight one... could maybe there be a button that you press in your my settings, that signifyed if you wanted to be either: called upon by people asking you to join their group - OR - if you dont want people to ask you?

for instance, jim-bob asks you to be part of halo loving halo rocketeers (this is an example btw) and instead of just saying no, you click a button in your my settings that says
O- click to be notified by clan recruiters
- OR -
O- click to invisible to clan recruiters

both buttons ...
thanks...

A big flag under my name saying "Don't bother advertising to me" would be nice as group ads just make me want to join the group even less.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

Truly, I wouldn't have problems with getting invitations if people were better at making them, and especially better at choosing people to send invitations to.

However, I don't think it would be possible to create an effective and working solution to stop group invites. They would either be ignored, not seen, or would require a solution that would hinder discussion between friends in PMs.

I think people make too big a deal over group PMs. All they are is text on the internet asking you to help their group grow. How terrible.

I don't have a problem with group invites. It's not like some gigantic, time consuming endeavor to open one up. I only have a problem if it's just one group that continuously asks you even though you said no initially.

Basically, the benefits of integrating this are overshadowed by the negatives. The main one being that the Bungie.net staff could be working on something more important and beneficial to the site then trying to get rid of a tiny hassle people have to deal with.

There is already a simple solution to avoiding group invites. All you have to do is ignore them - if you get more than one from somebody, just block them or tell them to stop. And as has been said, it's not like it takes too much of your precious time to read a message.

I know its not the hardest thing in the world to ignore a message but it IS annoying. As mabian said perhaps it wouldn't be so annoying if it was personalised, But surely all members have the right to enjoy these forums without having to worry about spam creeping into their inbox. I'm sure we all get enough in our regular emails. So if there was a button that let me opt out of getting invites i'd use it.

How is the system to know what are invites and what are just normal messages?
