Liez. MBT most certainly does not play a role in all of Bungie. In fact, I could care less about MBT. Not in a mean way, but I just don't find it very appealing. I'm happy that people enjoy it, but it doesn't really do much for me.

Wether you like it or not it does. Just because your not involved with it doesn't mean it doesn't.

Don't put yourself on a gold pedestal there. Yeah, you have 1500 members, so what? I don't really find the group interesting at all.

actually the count is almost at 1900, just pointing that out.

Thank you for your attention Achronos. I know this is a sensitive subject for many.

And Guardian Hunter, I'm not saying you can control those members, but in a very real sense, those members speak for you. It's the same as if the guy at McDonalds punched someone in the nose, or if the UPS guy tears up my package. Your members are a representation of your group. When they act bad, you look bad.
So if a guy punched someone in the nose at McDonalds and you heard about it on the news would you never go to McDonalds again?...That's not the best analogy. I can not control my members when they are not on MBT's forum just like the McDonalds corporation cannot control there employees punching someone in the nose at a McDonalds.

Exactly, why do you think guardian hunter is in the least way responsible for his members outside of MBT?

So if someone in MBT did something wrong on the public forums its GHs fault? Well what about the other groups the individual will be apart of? Are you saying it would be there fault too?

Why? Becuase you cant look at the member count where is says 1900? I wouldnt have said anything if it were closer to the real number. No offence but 400 to 500 people is a little more then a little bit off.

The reason you don't see as much moderation in the Halo 3 forum and New Mombasa is because there are so many more posts. The Underground doesn't get enough posts to push those locked threads off the first page, neither does the Septagon. If you want proof of this, I suggest you actually count the number of posts and the rate of posts. It is fairly obvious.

GH, I don't have problems with people pointing out faults, but at least acknowledge your own. On at least three seperate occassions, your group has been involved in something that required my attention. In terms of "missing the point" - your group and PF's group seem to be right up there, seeing how both of these groups have as one of their primary goals to break member milestones. I know what you mean. I recently got an e-mail address and made an account. But before that, I watched over the forums a lot. Several years ago there were lots of spam attacks on the forums and they wouldn't work. But now people bash each other because of there membership dates and groups they are in. The flood used to be more fun. Now its its spam topics like ZOMGISAWSOMTHINGJESUSHAXXORS!!!!!1111. There's the sometimes a good topic, but people then spam it and flame the topic creator. Zanzibar's most created topic was OMG I GOTS CHEATED!!!!!!!!!1111. Now New Mombasa is merged with BXR and cheating threads. There used to be three mods too :Shishka, stosh, and Yoozel. The mods have quintipled since then. I look back and see how many people were banned. Just look back a couple of pages and you'll see all these Anonomys User(Deleted) people. I also remember when moderaters sniped posts. Now they lock entire threads.

No, I'm saying that the person who got punched in the nose will go to McDonalds for satisfaction, because they are responsible for what their employees do. As a student in law school, you should know that.

Yes McDonalds is responsible for there employee punching someone in the nose. But overall McDonalds is a global corporation and pretty much nothing can hurt them so this doesn't exactly relate to the 7th Column. Members of MBt are also members of other groups. Does it reflect on them too when they post?

The employee is not responsible if the person is not in Mcdonalds. In this situation the member is in the forums, not MBT. MBT is the figurative Mcdonalds. So how do you figure that its in any way MBTs/Mcdonalds fault for something that happens in ace's hardware?

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

Work on that is some ways out.

The problem is that we have not figured out exactly how to keep the 7th Column relevant. You see, originally, it was used as a way to help communities form, since we didn't have Xbox Live for Halo 1. However, for Halo 2 and now 3, that purpose isn't necessary. Furthermore, there are lots of places where you can create your own website and host your own forum, and they do it way better than us. So, the trick is to figure out out what we can offer that no one else can, and redesign the groups around that.

As you have probably figured out, this is an incredibly hard problem. We're going to devote lots of thought and planning for it. Work isn't going to happen on this probably for another couple months, but I'll probably create a place to gather feedback and ideas soon. You guys use it way more than me, so maybe we can find some good ideas out of your experiences. I'll let you know, probably in a few weeks.

True the UnderGround and Septagon are slow in terms of new posts. But the Halo 3 Forum and New Mombasa would be much better managed by a regular to that forum. Nobody has yet to even acknowledge this point only go around it.

GH, I don't have problems with people pointing out faults, but at least acknowledge your own. On at least three seperate occassions, your group has been involved in something that required my attention. You should be able to stand on your own merits without basing your entire existence on having the most members. Yes I have faults, yes MBT has faults but saying we are the biggest cause of problems on the 7th Colum isn't true and isn't fair to say. I don't know about Popular Fusion but yes MBT is trying to break a member milestone but only not by itself. If this was are only goal I'd just call the group Most Members and send a million recruitment pm's. We are only gaining members so we can have a large base from which to draw ideas to go into our Halo 3 Guide which is what MBT is about gaming strategy and tactics. I think we stand quite well on our own merits without having to advertise our member count. If you noticed the new widely used MBT signature with the boxes it doesn't say "Join the Largest Group on Bungie" it saids "Halo 2 Strategy - Complete, Halo 3 Strategy - In Progress".

Kidding. :)

Actually, all I'm doing is hiding them from the regular display on posts. If you really want to see their join date, you can look at their profile.

Posted by: ICEMAN ASSASS1N
Whoa Achronos, hold on. Sure, I recieve a Lot of beef sometimes for my join date, but sometimes it's an integral part of the system. Unless you have a way to keep track of the dates, so as to not be quick to judge new people who come to the site?

Here's my $0.2: Keep the join dates hidden to the members, but visible to the moderators. That way, when an off topic thread comes up, the mods can say "Oh, he's new. I'll just clue him in on the rules and advise him to look at them."

I know join dates cause a lot "segregation" sometimes, and a lot of supposed "elitism." I guess what I'm saying is: Make sure someone who's a higher-up can see it; if the members can't.

I am very glad that the web team is still trying to make groups relevent and unique. I appreciate everythign that has been done by you and the rest of the team Anchronos and understand the time and effort it takes.

The community would improve even if people stopped replying to spam. Siply ignoring it and not replying would help to combat it and get rid of it. I encourage members to ignore any spam or bad threads they come across and report the thread to a mod.

Some points to be made (some have already been listed):

* Most Important! Try and remember this is an internet forum! Yes, it is definitely nice to better our community and site here, but lets not get over-worked up about something that has no actual effect on our physical life. Calm down ^_^

* The updates to the site that will come with Halo 3 could very easily give a new start to the community and the way we/it operates.

* Yes, we all love Marathon, Gnop, etc. but stop being so nostalgic everybody. Let the future come. Halo 2 is damn good, and Halo 3 will probably blow us all out of the water. Lets have some patience.. Bungie is working their asses off on the game right now, and if I were them, this website wouldn't be my #1 priority.

And to make the other half of the crowd happy, here's my imput about the website and what really can be done with it:
Bungie is working hard on Halo right? Well don't you all think a larger web team would help the problem, and get more content/interaction here at Bungie? I know everybody who is involved with this site is very busy, and the currently massive load would be taken off their shoulders, so everybody can concentrate on what they do best.
