its like a large force of win going through fusion, thus creating a chain reaction of a huge asplosion of win destroying any fail within its awesomeness.

I was thinking, you know how moderators share a Gmail account. Why don't they apply that idea with AIM or even MSN. Although I'm not sure if AIM or MSN allows multiple log-ins, but hopefully, they do. This way, it would be simple to report abusive spammers and threads. I also do understand that you can reach them through Google Talk, but it requires a Gmail account, and do remember Gmail is still beta, and they only allow a select few or for those that want to sign up via phone, which is more work than desired. I would sign up for a Gmail via phone, but many won't just for that reason. Don't forget, not everyone has a cell phone, and not everyone has a cell phone with text.

I think this would a great plus for improving the forums, and can allow quicker results and better efficiency for the moderators. This can stop the multiple PM's to 5 different moderators, and can eliminate the need of having to find out which moderator is online and which is off.

Well, I have a few moderators on my Windows Live Messenger friend list, so it's not really a big deal.

why do they need to? using google talk is much more efficient, and if you have a gmail account but not google talk, you can simply sign into gmail and talk to them through your web browser. Makes it much simpler when not on your own computer.

What about those without Windows Live Messenger.

Yeah, I thought of that when I mentioned MSN, but AIM is a possible.

I have several moderators on both my MSN Messenger and AIM contact lists. Unfortunately, not everyone lives in the same time zone (aka. Pacific Standard) so reporting to them can sometimes be a hassle.

What I usually do is surf through the forums until I find a thread that has been locked recently, or where a moderator has made a post. I will then PM them a link to the spam thread. Recon Number 54 encourages this, and he is excellent at responding to an issue promptly.

Personally I think adding each moderator's MSN is easier and more efficient than a joint account. Then you know:

a) Who you're talking to.
b) How many people you're talking to (I never understood that with Gtalk)
and c) People are more inclined to log onto their personal account each day, as opposed to a joint one.

I log onto my MSN every day, but I don't with gmail. Why? It doesn't have my friends on it, it's a hassle, and I can't be -blam!- opening gmail just to have people send links to me in an annoying program. MSN is much easier.

You can only log onto an MSN account from one location.

Google Talk was only chosen because we already had the Gmail account when it was launched, and it supports multiple sign-ins. It would be silly to create an account with every single IM service.

The Gmail e-mail account is a good way to contact us, as it doesn't matter who's online at the time - they can still get your message.

MSN is a very good program to use, since all the moderators have it, and most of us provide our account details here.

Only the paranoid will survive!

I'm not sure the moderators really want to be messaged with Forum information on AIM. They probably want to have their liesure time, just like everyone else. Just something to think about, mabye.

Which is why I haven't added any of them. With the exception of Pezza, but I had him added before he became a Mod. So he doesn't count. Besides, if I talked to Recon, my head would probably asplode. Alternatively, if I was in contact with Shishka, my feet would explode....With Pezza, it's more like.....

Caster: Hey.

Pezza: Hey

Caster: What's up?

Pezza: nothin

Caster: Cool.

Yeah.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

What about IRC? I've never used it simply because I can't get it to work, but would it be possible for Mods to have their own little mod-purposed IRC room? That way a bungie user could sign in and update them on what needs to be locked, maybe?

Just a thought. Again, I don't really know how IRC works, so maybe it's a bad idea.

Recon?

I'll be on my own side.

The title of this topic implies that the moderators are inept...but I would say the best way to get ahold of a mod would be to use MSN or IRC. There's always at least one mod in there.

Shai, just download Java and go to http://chat.moap.net/. Enter your name and hit connect. No password needed.

Personally, I would rather have someone intrude on my personal time with a link every now and then, as opposed to having to open up three different accounts and -blam!- just so that people can report stuff. Because, of course, we volunteered. If we don't want people giving us links over MSN, we wouldn't give out our MSN addresses.

So add me if you will. I've got well over 100 people from Bungie.net, and I don't mind.
