What does it mean when it spits up an alert that says "Gathering exception data!"?

I wonder if the Wolf thinks the Moon listens when he howls at it.

it means that the game had a fatal error and it had to shutdown because it could not continue to run.

Okay. Thank you. I just didn't know if it was a problem with the game itself, my computer, or a combination of both.

It usually happens when your halopc cd is getting old. if it keeps happening alot it means your halo pc cd is corrupted.

GED Errors also commonly occur with certain CE maps that are poorly done, or that aren't complete. It throws the computer into a computation error basically because it's trying to do something not allowed by the map parameters.

Sometimes, with H1PC, reinstalling also works wonders. But most of the time, its a petty annoyance we all put up with.

CDs can't be corrupted. Scratched, yes, but not corrupted.

An exception error likely means there is an incompatibility issue between your hardware and the game. Update all your drivers, and if that doesn't work, reinstall the game.

Also, don't forget to manually download the latest patches if you start up Halo and it shuts down when you get that message.

The few, the proud, the leet.

It means there is something missing in the cache file. Be it some particle effect that rarely gets noticed or something big like a CTF netgame flag not being plcaed.

They're called exception errors simply because the definition of exception fits. Exception data is the report of what was missing.

It either means that your video card is crap, or you need drivers.
