Subject: Group Interaction

Twitter | Nothing

After yesturdays discussion in GameJunkieJim's post I have come up with some ideas. Firstly is an idea on how to combat spam in the main forums using groups.

What I suggest is that if you see a member of bungie.net spamming and making bad posts in the main forums, then you blacklist or remove them from your group. Give them a reason such as "You have been spamming the main forums and therefore compromising the experience of members using the main forums. Therefore your group priveledges have been withdrawn from you."

All group leaders and founders can do this and I really think that it would help to combat spam on the main forums. You could also give a warning to the person expressing that if they continue to spam the main forums they will be removed from your group. I would encourage all group leaders to at least consider this cause of action, there are more important things than member counts within Groups and Bungie.net

Secondly I have been getting in touch with several groups about interaction between em and my group. What I am proposing is that we share news stories, offer each other content or arrange competions together on a regualr basis. This will allow both of our groups to benefit as our members will be able to access more content and therefore have a more enjoyable experience.

What I am suggesting is that other groups also start to do the same. I know certain groups already do this, but alot more don't. By doing this we will be strengthening ties within the 7th Column and allowing all of our members to have access to more content and more events. You must understand that I do not mean for groups to ally or form alliances with other groups but just to share some content, arrange some competitions together, even just organise online games of Halo 2 that any member of the groups can join in on.

That said I am open to suggestions so please go ahead and offer anything you have to say, and thanks for taking the time to read this thread.

- Nathan.

Sounds like a plan. However, the spamming of the forums thing will be more difficult to regulate. If you notice things like people putting their # of blacklists in their sigs, alongside a group advertisment for you. Tell them to remove it, or boot them from the group. Things like that would help. Although, thats going into group advertisment and thats not whats this is about.

Apart from that, great idea. I know i've tried shared content, with a little success. Scale it up and it will work a treat.

I agree. From what I've seen, people who administrate large Groups don't really go out into the main forums (Well, at least not the Flood) all that much. So finding that person spamming on the main forums would be a bit difficult.

Apart from that, GG.

MY XBOX DIED THAT'S WHY.

I think that's a really solid idea.

Hopefully other groups will follow suit or at least consider the ideas.

I like the idea of regular interaction between groups. Say, a monthly humpday between you and your "best friend chapter." If that even makes sense.....It only makes sense slightly to me.....

You know that game I'm running over in The Flood? Well, if there is second iteration of that I was planning on having it be chapter vs. chapter (actually, chapter vs. chapter vs. chapter vs. chapter vs. chapter vs. chapter vs. chapter). I would end up PMing some chapter heads that I think would want to play (like MBT, since they are all about tactics and they'd probably end up doing well and I'd try to get HFCS to play).

Psyched's tournament is to get some chapter interaction going. I think that was a great idea.

But anyway, just keep coming up with ideas to involve multiple groups, and hopefully people will respond.

That would be awesome. I've only taken a little bit of a glance at it, but it does seem to be very well thought out and in-depth. So, I think it would be awesome for the Chapter v. Chapter version.

I am glad people liek the ideas and that they agree with me, but I cannot take credit for them on the most part. Other members of the community voiced ideas and I simply expanded upon them and expressed them here.

Oh and please if you have any suggestions on what groups could do to interact with each other then please go ahead and tell us. I am hoping that you can give some realy good unique ideas.

That would be refreshing, a legitamite inter-chapter war! As a member of Halo2 UK, we regularly interact with other UK groups, such as the UK Custom Gamers and the Wallwalkers, and we always have a good laugh. I thoroughly recommend all you 'exclusive chapters' to lighten up a bit and give something back!

This is a great idea, but I see one major flaw honestly. The only people that really care about the status they have in groups are people who already are good in the regular forums. The people that make dumb posts in the regular forums tend to be the same ones that make dumb posts in the group forums, which means they don't really care if they get removed from your group. :( Believe me this is coming from experience....

Goldhawk's idea

I'd be very interested in the diplomacy game. Games in Action would like to represent in that, if it were taken to the group frame..

You could hold say. A match between the larger, more known groups. Then one for say, the jumpers, hfcs, the council chambers etc.

Then a couple from other groups.

i was about to turn this into a competition idea...but thats probably not a good plan..

I would still like for scoreboards of somekind to be kept, or at least the game records..

As for more group interaction apart from that. We could hold...xbox live regular matches...im sure the people's here aren't limited to xbox live too, we could try...command and conquor..or civilisation 4..if there was enough interest..

I was thinking that it would be good for groups to organise humday challenge type things between each other. Keep them friendly of course, but this in itselft could be fun and keep groups interacting.

Furthermore, some people act different in some places than others. If someone treats other people with respect and doesn't flame/spam/conquer, then it is not my business what they do in the public forums unless they do things like post lemon parties.

That's not what it's been in my experience. It's the people making dumb posts that crave power, while those making good posts are just out for a good time. They don't care about what powers they get.

There is rarely a emboldened line between a "good" poster and a "bad" poster. Some post more good than bad, and vice-versa, but there is rarely someone who posts all bad, and even more rarely who posts all good. The idea could still work fine. People tend to care more about being a member of an exclusive group than being banned from a public forum for a few days.

What about a ranking system of members of a group about there online ranking...a list from best to worst of the ranking scores of XBOX live. Then you could keep up with the top eight or sixteen people of the group who can represent the group in tourney's and such...that would also cause the members of the group to want to play XBOX live more so that they can get into the top sixteen of their group.

Since this group tourney is like the clan vs. clan vs. clan.... then I was wondering if groups hold top eight spots, then they could have a group tourney with only the members involved to try and exact the rank of those top eight. In other words, battle for your spot amongst the members of your group.
