Underground Pleasure - aren't you a bit curious?

I was wondering...can we remove the "no replying to threads" rule in the Classifieds? What's the point in locking every thread with replies? Just a bunch of pointless moderating to me...
Isn't the whole point of a forum to post things? If I came into a forum just to read and not reply, I would of grabbed myself a book.

There's nothing harmful about replying to threads in the Classifieds. Let's utilize the purpose of a forum.

P.S.
This has nothing to do with this, but I would also appreciate it more if the mods would post a reason when they're locking threads. Because I'm seeing perfectly normal threads being locked. *cough*

I agree with the whole Post in the Classifieds thing, but the mods are finally doing their job, they are locking and deleting every post that deserves it, and trying to show the community they are wasting their time making worthless threads.

actually. It is fair. THe classifieds is not a forum, it's a place to advertise. PM the person if you are interested, otherwise you are bumping threads, and nothing else. The rule is there for a reason.

The Classifieds is not a forum? Um...yes it is....it's just a forum used to advertise things.

It isn't bumping if the threads are still on the first page.

I think it's a pointless rule. The mods are just wasting their time, they could using that time to watch another forum...one that is in much more need of mods than the Classifieds.

tha tis exactly what dmbfan and I said in a previous thread. I was going to make the newspaper analogy again, but I thought it had gone sour. But Recon is right, it is not for replying, and it is bumping if it is on the front page, because you are keeping it higher, longer.

While I appreciate your view, I do not agree with it.

The Classifieds is a forum where people place advertisements. They place the ad and leave it. There should be no need to check on it for response. If the ad is of interest to someone and they wish to "reply" to the ad, they should use the PM system to contact the person directly.

Just like the classified section of the newspaper. If I am interested in someone's used car, I don't call the paper to have them update the listing, I call the person who placed the ad and talk with them directly.

There is no discussion required, needed or allowed in The Classifieds as discussion are "off-topic" to the purpose of advertising.

They why don't we just disable the reply button and leave the 'new topic,' 'message user,' and 'edit' buttons?

But, but but.....I hate talking through the PM system. Yeah, yeah...I know...that's your own problem.
