I know this is a regularly posted type of thread, so sorry in advance for that. Now, I was wondering if a ATI Radeon 9800 XT 256MB would be enough to run Halo in all of it's full, specular glory. I was planning to buy a Geforce 6600, but it turns out that my dad has a 9800 that I can have for free. Will this card be good enough to give me the textured grass, plasma shield effects on the MC, realistic decals, and other stuff like that?

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Yeah I first played Halo on a 9800 pro. You can turn on all the specular and stuff, but you need to keep the resolution around 1024x768. 1280x1024 isn't playable with all the bells and whistles.

Fortunately, it's fully hardware Directx9.0 compatible...with shader model 2.0 support. The 9800xt can render all the stuff correctly.

The few, the proud, the leet.

A 9600 will run the game on max settings. A 9100 will run the game with max settings, but the active cammo wont be that great.

Stupid parents let their stupid children play games that are rated M when they should be playing Big Birds Spelling Adventures

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

It will work fine with almost all the games out there.

I have a Radeon 9600XT AIW, and it runs everything with no problems except for GRAW, which requires a supercomputer.

It's a decent card, but the GeForce 6600 is better.

Yah. GRAW PC is quite demanding on midrange PCs.
