Cody Miller is reporting over at High Speed Halo that they have finally whittled down the overall time of their Halo 2 speedruns to under two hours. Congrats to Jeff Cousin for getting the run that finally pushed them under the 2 hour mark.

Damn, that's way to fast. But I guess it's possible looking at all these crazy speed runs. I once saw this one vid on gamespot of guy beating The Silent Cartographer in 4 Freaking minutes. Anyway congrats to him that record will probably never be beaten.

Click on my name, go to my groups, select anti stupidity, go to the bottom of the page and there should be a headline that says new record. And it stats the time it was beated and then after you see that look at the date it was posted.

It was 1 year ago

I've never tried to beat Halo 2 at an insanely fast pace as indicated in this article. However I did beat Halo 2 in less than 5 hours the day it came out. I watched all the cutsceens. The funny thing was I cancelled my lab time, then rebooked it on the same day. I never expected to get through the game as fast as I did, I was expecting a truly monolithic game. I played through on Normal, so it amounted to a cake walk. Needless to say that evening I beat the game on Heroic, the next day Legendary. Come back and tell us when you beat the game on Legendary without dying, no cheating, and playing through all the battles in the game without bypassing parts. Then I'll be impressed, better yet attempt to do it in Halo CE. I haven't met anyone who can play Halo CE through without dying, the Library will destroy your hopes every time.

Wow, these guys are really good. I'm watching the first Halo vids right now, and they do some amazing tricks on here, skipping about half the level at a time. Cortana was still telling them about the locked door on SC when they were already coming back up. They must practice a lot.

Yeah that is an awesome feat! I played through a few times working up from easy. By the time I got to Legendary I knew pretty much everything in the levels that could be found normally. What they did was a great feet but they skipped parts of the game... Thats absolutely ridiculous. I completed legendary the first time in almost four hours, I slimmed it down to three hours and ten minutes the first week. After that I had to get over the dissapointment of the lack of story and lack of special easter eggs... A few weeks later I realized how hard Bungie worked on the title and picked it up again. I had played every day for a while, broke my xbox, and didn't get to play for a while. I ended up selling my perfect limited edition copy to a california reseller called gamestop for 25 dollars... Stupid move. I bought a new copy three months later, then I started playing online... It gets pretty rough online. I am on every weekend and one day I said, lets try the campaign on legendary... It was so freaking easy I almost cryed. I played through in 1 hour and 52 minutes. The point of Halo that I want to emphasize, it isn't how good you are, what you can do, or who you can beat... Its how much fun you have and how many people on your friends list actually are true friends! Because of Bungie's super awesome matchlist I have made friends in almost twelve other states that I couldn't do before. Thanks Bungie!

Wow! 2 Hours, not bad ; )
I still find beating super mario bros 3

Of course they used all warps
but its still a neat task to complete.

Oh thats Halo 1... Ha I didn't even realize. You think that would be harder? The only semi hard level would be the library... Probaby takes an hour by it self! But seriously Halo, and Halo 2 rock. I have backup copies now just in case they get scratched!

thats alot bungie next time maybe u could create a game a little longer u thing? i mean dam if ppl can beat your game in under 2 hourse ON LEGENDARY then u should be ashamed of yourselfs for creating such a short game! i mean i could under stand maybe if sum one beat it on easy in 3 hours. but i guess your game is just to short try to make a much longer game on halo 3 at least 10-12 hours. and the speeed freaks couls beat it in like 4 hours that would be aceptible but a 2 hour game even by speed freaks on LENGENDARY is pitiful.

Can you give a more detailed analysis? Like the exact time and difficulty? Whether or not they acquire the hidden skulls?
I Haven't played campaign much other than when i first bought the game, and even though awe-struck at the highly improved graphics and still messin around a bit, i managed to beat legendary in 3 hours and 47 minutes. So, if you wouldn't mind explaining how I'm suppossed to prove it, I think I'd easily beat it in an hour and 30 minutes.

I wonder what difficulty. Did they use any short cuts? Like jumping on buildings, or anything? I guess I'll have to go check for my self huh?

I probably took that long just for the first three levels on legendary. I don't time my games though so I wouldn't really know.

Legendary. They use every single shortcut available to them. That includes glitching and completely running past things. Still, it takes a lot of fine-tuning and practicing these runs to cut the times down as they do. They are some impressive individuals.

TO THE NEIGHBOR'S!!!

Those times make them true Game Rabbits. In a game software testing pit, testers known as rabbits (because they play through games super fast) are set aside to see how long it takes to beat a game. Granted shortcuts were used, parts of the levels were bypassed, but this is still impressive work. Those shortcuts didnt come with dummy signs.

I'm pretty impressed by how fast they can beat the game, it's just something I'd never do. Even after all the times I've played threw Halo CE, and Halo 2. I still manage to sit down and watch every cinematic. It's just like a good book you go back to read again and again. People may wonder why you read it so much, you clearly know everything. But the reason is that you reread the book for the mood and feeling it puts you in.
