I've just gotta clear a few things up though.

1. This is not a straight through play. they have taken the minumum times for each level by different players and added them together to arrive at this total.

2 I doubt it includes any film clips at all.

3 It IS on legendary, which make the completiion of Cairo Station in under ten minutes pretty cool, considering my lack of knowledge of any REAL shortcuts for it. And a time of 2:18 for uprising.

4 They said that in a similar thread, H:CE has been whittled down to a time of 1 hour 35 minutes and 40 seconds.

Anyway. Congrats to highspeed halo for this accomplishment.
I, for one, am impressed.

It's All or Nothing Baby!!

That's B.S.. Anyone can run through the game and not kill anything or everything. It is impossible to beat Halo 2 in under 2 hours. Not even the programmers can do that, bull-blam!-

hi, NOKYARD here, you may know me from speedruns like Delta Legendary No-Shot and Metro Legendary 5:07
i just can't bear to let the above post be the last word on the subject

we didn't say that one individual beat the game in under 2 hours - it was a group effort - but i predict that some day it will happen - you don't know how determined speedrunners are - there are still shortcuts to be found

Posted by: Honorable Sniper
Ive done that
My record was 2hours 10min and 23sec
Its not hard at all
you might think that i would get all defensive when people say things like this - nothing could be further from the truth - if you think you have the skill it takes to beat the game in the time you state, then come on over to the High Speed Halo forums and show us your stuff - we always welcome new speedrunners with open arms - unlike most other forums it's a very friendly place - we don't compete against other, we compete against the game - and only because we love and respect Bungie for giving us such wonderful and challenging games

Posted by: ChiefofAntarctic
They must practice a lot.
personally, i've run the first 3 minutes of Quarrantine Zone 500-600 times - i can't imagine how many times i've run Delta Halo and Two Betrayals

Posted by: VoltRabbitt
Granted shortcuts were used, parts of the levels were bypassed, but this is still impressive work. Those shortcuts didnt come with dummy signs.
we should thank you guys and the HBO and HIH forums for that - some of those shortcuts were found by players from all corners of the Halo universe, not just speedrunners - it's just up to us to exploit them in a meaningful way

we also run the levels without shortcuts in a project we call Full Path Halo - and do you know what...they're still wickedly fast - Uprising for example is only 1:16 longer without the level-ending shortcut

why would you want to take a shortcut? even after playing Halo:CE since launch, It,s always alot more fun to play the game straight through and kill everything in sight, and do do that as fast as you can. I guess i just don't get the speedrunning end of the game, do they win money, or get an award? Playing the game like this makes no sense.

never underestimate the stupidity of idiots

although i cant prove it, i've beaten halo2 on legendary without dying. i timed it. it took 26:03:22 it was not all in one sitting, i finished it in 4 sittings, firstly Cairo-Oracle, secondly Delta Halo- Sacred icon, and thirdly Quarantine zone-Uprising, and lastly High Charity and The great journey, tartarus took me nearly 2 hours.

I like Halo.

STEPPIN LIGHTLY Jumping Challenge Map by Yours truly.

LOTR - Nightwish music video by Yours truly.

My friend, OldRedMonkey, and I can play through both Halo:CE and Halo 2 in under two hours, on EASY mode, hahah.

However, we still have a XBL friend in Vermont that doesn't believe us, so for that reason, and for -blam!-s and giggles, we video captured our cooperative runthroughs of the games. I have already completed the authoring of a DVD for Halo:CE runthrough that we did. It's complete with menus and live commentary by each of us.

Yes, we each recorded what we said during the entire game on separate mics. With those voice tracks, I authored the DVD with two audio tracks, one with JUST game sound and the other with the commentary with my voice in the right speaker and my friend's voice in the left speaker.

It's a pretty cool production, being that the menus look, and act like the game menu on Halo:CE, even with a custom made preview video that plays through like the game does if you sit in the menu too long.

If you know us personally, the commentary is the best part. We say retarded stuff and fight about retarded things... In fact, I'm probably retarded for making that DVD...

Without dieing. Thats easy due to the fact that THEY TOOK OUT THE HEALTH SYSTEM !!!

not much to brag about, I'm sorry to say. Try and do that On Halo : Combat Evolved. It will NEVER happen ! I like Halo 2, but the loss of the health system, AI, and the more powerfull yet harder to land Melee attacks has taken too much "FEEL" away from the game. That's why Halo 2 is Easier. It is only my opinion, remember , "One mans Chicken is another mans Steak" ! Holla at me when you beat Halo : Combat Evolved without dieing, I don't care how long it takes you either. Remember, when your health is at 1 red bar and the " Thump Thump" of your heart is beating, the covenant know this, i noticed this in the first game. They know when you are weak and they hear you reload. The Elites are infamous with putting together a strategic and coordinated attack on you at these moments ! Infact, You can hear them speak to eachother at these moments. It's not like Halo 2 where there are just twice as many enemies just running around at you aimlessly coming from all diorections. I did not notice as much coordinated attacks from the covenent in Halo 2, and I miss it.

"THUMP THUMP,THUMP THUMP,THUMP THUMP ! " Holy crap they are surrounding me exacty when I'm reloading and am at near death ! Then Two Elites speak to the grunts and proceed to counter, One Elite around each side of the rock you are behind and the grunts and jackles coming at you head first....... you are DEAD!

There is NO HIDING in Halo : Combat Evolved

anyone remember that?

I'm pretty impressed by how fast they can beat the game, it's just something I'd never do. Even after all the times I've played threw Halo CE, and Halo 2. I still manage to sit down and watch every cinematic. It's just like a good book you go back to read again and again. People may wonder why you read it so much, you clearly know everything. But the reason is that you reread the book for the mood and feeling it puts you in.

I agree. And thosee speed runs are awesome. But they can't be fun really. You just run past everything. Thats not what Master Chief would do. Maybe the Arbiter, But not the Chief.

This is true, the Arbiter is a WUSSY who needs an invisible cloak to.........get my point?
I don't think I even tried beating every enemy that the Arbiter encountered. I would just keep hitting the Invisibility button and run past His roles in the game ( NOT AN ARBITER FAN....what a wimp!) Playing as the Chief however, I went looking for every enemy on every level in the game and made sure they were DEAD,DEAD,DEAD ! Just Like in Halo CE ! It's just impossible for us to as Human beings to put ourselves in The shoes of the Arbiter. Playing as "John 117" is a different story, you can relate to his issues he MUST deal with, and you deal with them......to the end! I truely hope the Arbiter Dies a hoirrible death on his way back to Earth. Many people think he added "something " to the game, I felt it took away ALOT !!! All it did was open up another story for Bungie to continue with after Halo 3. What a cheasy way to lose your ling ling. It's like Bungie says, "When the Ling Ling(or whatever) is gone, then we start to make our next game! Well, in my opinion the Chief is the Ling Ling and as I've said before, They lost that in Halo 2. If it does not return for Halo 3, It will Bomb! I don't care how good the graphics are or this awesome new lighting and this and that texturing. Halo 2 lost it's feel from halo, and the Arbiter is what I blame that on. Heck even if I descide to play the Campaign in Halo 2 again, I play only the levels with The Chief in Them! I don't even play the FINAL LEVEL because of this, only to see a cheasy ending of DEAD hero Returning to Earth! I truely Hope Bungie brings his Heroizm Back to actually "FINISH THE FIGHT". But that's probably just smoke and mirrors for Bungie to market Halo 3 the same way they did Halo 2.

Remember that Awesome Halo 2 "In Game Video" that was shown @ E3 . That Never actually ended up being "IN THE GAME"..... AT ALL !! Halo 2 Actually ended up NOT even being CLOSE to what that video showed. Hopefully we will see Another Halo game in Halo 3.

BTW- I can play "Assault On The Control Room" for an entire Day and never get bored of it ! What happened to levels like that In Halo 2? Like I said... goodbye to the ling ling!

Peace, Jake
