I'm fairly certain there won't be Dx10 AGP cards, if there will be, they will suck really bad, and probably won't have the processing ability to handle the nice DX10 special effects. So, your choice now shouldn't be based on if you want a Dx10 card. If you're planning on getting DX10, might as well get a new processor too since Vista and games will be taking advantage of core and thread affinity.
Concerning your options here, you might as well buy the best you can get for your money.
My suggestions is the 6800xt its not too much more than a 6600gt but I bet you'll be a lot happier with it, you might even be able to play Halo on highest settings with this at a nice resolution. The price difference you are paying for is double the memory bandwidth(128 vs 256 bit) as well has higher clock speeds. If you can't get the extra cash, go with the 6600gt, because it's better, and in your price range.
EDIT: If you choose the 6800xt, buy the model I linked you, theres another model listed 11 dollars cheaper on Newegg, it is listed incorrectly though it is listed as 256bit but really it is 128bit.
