The Lost Spartan: Wonders
The day was nearing it's close. The velvet red drapes of sunlight were fading as Vikki stepped into the field of deat Grunts, Elites, and Jackals. She scanned the area, searching for another lost target. She quickly viewed no threat on her threat indicator, and kneeled down.
Her MJOLNIR armor was tough, not invincible. She always forgot that. Her last opposer had taken his plasma rifle and leveled it at her face, firing like crazy. The gun had overheaded. Her added reflexes took over and sent her away from the danger, but it wasn't enough. The plasma had taken her shields down and penetrated her armor, buring her shoulder.
She opened up the hole, exposing her red, blistering skin. She took some anti-bacterial spray, squirted the stinging stuff onto the joint, and replaced the protective armor. She stood up, popped a stim pack, and sholdered her MA5B Assault rifle.
She looked over the majestic scenery of New Mambosa, except it was covered in smoke and flames. She knew, that this Covanent force of a hundred was only a scouting team for thousands. Vikki sighed, hoping that the Cheif would arrive.
She continued to dwell on returning to the UNSC. She had been lost during the cyro jettising from the Pillar of Autumn back over Threshold...and Halo...and the Flood.
She couldn't think about it now. She had to find allies and reunite with her Spartans. She only knew of the Cheif making it back. He hoped that the others made it off Reach alive. WIll, Anton, Harold, Kyle, Vanessa, Hope, Victor, Kelly, and the countless others thought to have been slain by the Covanent armada.
RED.
Her motion tracker picked up a signal, an enemy. It moved toward her to her right. She turned to meet the villian, a gold Commaner Elite, armed with a fuel rod gun. She aimed her MA5B and fired.
48 of the 60 bullets pinged off of the Elite's external shields, finally bringing them down. He charged, firing. She tucked and rolled to her left, missing the shot. She fired the last three round from her clip, and threw away the weapon. She had no more ammo, and she couldn't fight hand to hand with an Elite armed with that weapon.
However, it seemed as if Fate was on her side, as the Elite dropped the weapon and picked up two fallen needlers. Both weapons were fully loaded and ready to fire. She then remembered that she had two weapons stached away for this type of combat. SHe pulled out two SMGs, fully loaded and dirty from oil, dirt, and blood.
Both human and alien fired, dodging each other's shots untill they ran out of ammunition. The Elite dropped the guns, revealing a marine's nightmare: a Covanent Plasma Sword. This sword was different, since it was a rainbow color instead of the familiar blue. It also gave off less of a glare, allowing the user to see it without the risk of buring his eyes or slicing himself open.
Must have been an upgrade.
She looked at the dirt, ready to die. She had no time to reload, and at this range, the SMGs would do no good to a sword. Then she found an identical weapon. She switched it on, marveling at it's glowing blades, and faced her challenger.
They stared each other down and clashed. One sword swipe barely missed the Elites head, another missed her arm. A blow almost hit her in the chest, while she used the open opportunity to stab her opponent in the breast.
The Elite was stunned tht it lost the fight, and it muttered, " Semirc ruoy rof yap lliw snamuh eht. [The humans will pay for your crimes.]" Then, it buckled over and died.
She put the Covanent weapon away, hoping to send it to ONI to see if they could improve upon it. She looked at the coming night and began to plot out how to get home.
