There is NO WAY IN HELL you will own someone using a keyboard when using a ocntroller. Cons need auto aim and if they dont you ar not precise. A mouse doesn't they are prcise enoguh. DO NOT BUY A CONTROLLER!!!

  • 08.04.2006 8:40 PM PDT

lol

Yeah dude, I thought the same as you. Controller vs Keyboards.. controllers SUCK BUTT. Mice are much more precise, but controllers are just cooler! ;D

I wish everyone on HaloPC played with controllers.

And post that said you need auto-aim? I dislike that comment. You made Halo2 sucky with auto-aim. Halo1 was awesome, it took skill. Auto-aim made Halo2 baaad!

Keyboard/mouse will destroy a controller any day. Thread closed.

But doesn't it also matter how good you are with a controller or a keyboard?

I bet I could beat anyone with my keyboard/mouse vs someone with a controller. Skill matters, but people are much more capable on keyboard/mouse.

Well I was just thinking just because whenver I play Halo 2 I notice i'm alot more fluid with motion and stuff. But if i'll pwn more with a keyboard, then ill stick with that

I don't know what my graphics card is

But these are my computer specs:

imac wth new Intel chip

17" inch

mighty mouse

and I can run Halo with all the top notch settings pretty smoothly.

I'll get back to you on the graphics card

Probobly the only reason you are more "Fluid" is because aiming with a controller is really slow, so its impossible to look jerky or out of control like you can with a mouse. Just as a demonstration as to how slow a controller is, do this: Go play Halo 2 and look straight up, then try and look behind you while also returning the view to looking straight ahead (rather than up at the ceiling). It takes a good second or two to do this, while it would be instantaneous with a mouse.

But anyway, Halo 2 has a rediculous amount of auto-aim (all console shooters have some degree of it it because aiming with analog sticks is so inaccurate) so you think that you're a lot better with a controller than you really are. I thought that I was decent with a controller, but after playing Halo for the PC with my 360 controller, I was shocked. I thought it would feel somewhat similar to Halo 1, but instead it felt like a completely new game and was really hard to control. And you know why it was so hard? Because there was no assistance and you actually had to aim for yourself.

You pretty much need an aimbot to stand a chance against a mouse.

So I'm more fliud with a controller on a console because it has auto aim. But if you use a controller for a computer theres zero auto aim?

So in the end I should just get better with a keyboard?

And how can you use your 360 controller on a computer?

i have a controller and the thing is you have to get a plugin and the left analog stick will only go right left up down and diagonals no in between because halo pc cant register any thing else because it only knows those exact directions. but i really dont play halo for the pc for the fighing thats why i have halo 2.

OK, since you're so skilled with a controller, get a few buddies on Halo 2, create a custom game and just teamkill eachother. That'll show you how hard it is.

Wouldn't the controllers just look and move the same as a normal xbox controller? I haven't tried using a controller yet, but since I was so good with the xbox controller I thought I would of been good with a controller on a computer.

But thanks to you guys, Ive rethunk myself.

Dear God in Heaven, where the Hell should I begin?

* The Xbox 360 Wired Controller, first of all, is only compatible with the Xbox 360 and Windows XP based PCs. So you can't use it for a Mac.

* Halo: Combat Evolved takes more skill to play than Halo 2 on the Xbox because it has less auto-aim, but nonetheless, it's auto-aim. The mouse and keyboard takes more skill to use than the controller. Auto-aim is basically a lackluster aimbot. (That's not to say that console FPS don't take skill, I'm just saying it would be harder without aim assist.)

* Macs don't have better graphics. They use the same cards we do. In fact, they have worse graphics. I don't know where you got that idea, Jake.

* The mouse and keyboard is superior to the controller is superior to the controller in any way, shape, or form when it comes to real-time strategy games, MMORPGs, and first-person shooters. It's much more responsive, more precise, much easier to use than a controller. You are going to get your ass kicked a thousand fold if you decide to use a gamepad against other Halo players using the mouse and keyboard.

i dont really care but i usually use keyboard cause i dont have xbox so i use PC. but once in a while, ill use a controller at a friends house and it aint to bad. just needs a little getting used to.

and you see, if bungie hadnt made halo for PC, noone of yall peeps would be using keyboards.

Eh? Of course we wouldn't be using the mouse/keyboard if they didn't make Halo PC. We'd be playing on the Xbox, either that or we'd be playing other PC games, and use the keyboard and mouse anyway. :P

I have played both Halo for the XBox and PC.

The controller can be used in a PC game, you just need to be really good.

A keyboard lets you aim with your arm, rather than your thumb.

Much better.
